CARLETTA JEAN WALKING EAGLE

Carletta Jean Walking Eagle, 45 of Fort Totten (Crow Hill), ND peacefully passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND with her loving family by her side. Funeral Services for Carletta will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at the St. Michael Catholic Church, St. Michael, ND at 10:00 A.M. Fr. Charles Leute and Fr. John Cavanaugh will officiate and burial will be in the Walking Eagle Family Cemetery, rural Fort Totten (Crow Hill), ND. The Wake and Prayer Service for Carletta will be at the St. Michael Recreation Center on Wednesday beginning at 5:00 P.M. with the Rosary at 8:00 P.M. The procession to St. Michael will leave from the Wal-Mart parking lot on Wednesday at 4:00 P.M. Carletta Jean Walking Eagle, was born August 22, 1968 in Los Angeles, CA the loving daughter of Carl Sr. and Barbara (Cavanaugh) Walking Eagle. Carletta attended elementary school at St. Michael Tribal School and middle and high school at Four Winds Community School where she enjoyed being a cheerleader and playing the trumpet in the High School Band. She graduated from high school in 1988. Carletta worked as a Floor Walker and Cashier at the Spirit Lake Bingo Palace and Casino. Carletta attended Candeska Cikana Community College, but could not complete due to her battle with MSK-medullary sponge kidney disease and Leukemia. Carletta enjoyed spending valuable time with family and friends. She touched many lives and whenever she was around, there was always laughter! She had a heart of “GOLD” and many people, who knew her, knew just that. If she had something that you liked, she would give it to you or try to give it to you. She always put others before herself. She especially loved her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews with all her heart and they all knew that she loved them. Carletta is survived by her loving family, Children: Kaylee Walking Eagle, daughter; Shay Walking Eagle, son; Stetson (ST) Walking Eagle, son, all of Fort Totten (Crow Hill), ND and Shalee Allen, daughter of Skokomish, WA Parents: Carl and Barbara Walking Eagle, Fort Totten (Crow Hill), ND Brothers: Curtis Walking Eagle, Carl (CJ) Walking Eagle, Jr.. Both of Fort Totten (Crow Hill), ND and Benny Wayne Walking Eagle of Jamestown, ND Sisters: Carlene (Doug) Peltier, Grand Forks, ND and Rochelle Walking Eagle of Fort Totten, ND and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Carletta was preceded in death by her infant son Michael Walking Eagle, Paternal Grandparents: Tony and Grace Walking Eagle; Maternal Grandparents: Michael and Irene Cavanaugh; Aunts: Lisa Walking Eagle, and Maxine Foss; Uncles Glen Walking Eagle, Marvin Anderson, Sr., and Bruno (Softy) Cavanaugh; Cousins: William Kazena, Marvin Anderson, Jr., and Victorio (Tu-Tuff) Camp, Jr... Serving as Casket Bearers for Carletta will be Curtis Walking Eagle, Carl (CJ) Walking Eagle, Jr., Antonio (AJ) Eagleman, Larris Delorme, Galen Delorme, and Douglas Peltier. Honorary Bearers will be all Carletta’s friends and family that loved her and the Four Winds graduating Class of 1988. All drum groups and singers are invited to share music in memory of Carletta.
