Harriet M. Ackerman, 79 of Devils Lake died on Sunday morning, November 21, 2004 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Fr. Joseph Christensen will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass. Harriet was born on June 20, 1925 at Kenmare, North Dakota to Charles and Hannah (Thompson) Ackerman. Harriet was Baptized, received her First Communion and was Confirmed at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Kenmare. She received her grade school education at Kenaston School and St. Agnes School and graduated from Kenmare High School with the Class of 1942. She attended Business College in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was a telegrapher with the Great Northern Railroad, self-employed for years as a Court Reporter and then worked in the Real Estate Division of the railroad in Omaha, Nebraska. At the time of her death, Harriet was a resident of Heartland Care Center in Devils Lake. Harriet is survived by her Sisters and Brothers-In-Law: Barbara Lou and Merwyn Johnson, Monroe, Washington Virginia and Bernard Schmitz, Devils Lake Several Nieces and Nephews A Grand Niece and several cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Ackerman and his wife, Jean. Harriet will be greatly missed by her family, friends and relatives. May she rest in peace.
