Carol E. Fandrich

Carol E. Fandrich, 66 of Devils Lake, ND died on Christmas Eve evening, December 24, 2004 at her home, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Fr. C.F.Wilhelm will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Tuesday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass. Serving as pallbearers will be: Dean Fandrich, Jr., Cory Hagen, Roy Wessels, Derrick Skjerva, Geoffrey Skjerva, Scott Skjerva and Alecia Cossette. Gift Bearers will be: LaDonna Skjerva, Amanda Nelson, Amy Fandrich, Sarah Britton and Tiffany Hagen. Reading the Scriptures will be Bob Cossette and Lori Reynolds Carol E. Kettwig was born on December 23, 1938 at Devils Lake, the daughter of Herman and Helen (Sattler) Kettwig. She was reared and educated in rural Devils Lake attending country school in North Minnewaukan Township then attended Devils Lake Central High School. She was at one time married to Arnold Fandrich. She spent most of her life as a devoted mother, raising her six children. She also worked in the Laundry Department of the Heartland Care Center for a number of years until ill health forced her to retire. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Carol considered any time spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as a special gift just for her. Carol is survived by her loving children and their spouses: Deb and Warren Aune, Oriska, ND Doreen Fandrich, Penn, ND Donna (Allen) Schwan, Grand Forks, ND Danita and Greg Skjerva, Devils Lake Dean and Roberta Fandrich, Penn Danette Harrison, Puyallup, Washington Fourteen Grandchildren: Scott (Nichole Bruns) Skjerva, Dean (Codi Peterson) Fandrich, Jr., Cory (Tiffany) Hagen, Roy Wessels, Derrick Skjerva, Geoffrey Skjerva, Amanda (Ross) Nelson, Sarah (Chad) Britton, Kristin (Brian) Marynik, Alecia Cossette, LaDonna Skjerva, Amy Fandrich, Amber (Rohn) Thurman and Ashley Roed. Five Great Grandchildren: Carter Currey, Catherine Cossette, Holly Marynik, Emily Britton and Autumn Keenan. Sister: Irene (Kenny) Karch, Pick City, ND Brother: John (Laura) Kettwig, Griffith, Indiana Special Canine Companion: Sadie She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Carol Cossette; grandson, Christian Fandrich; son-in-law, Gary Hagen and niece, JoLynn Kettwig.
