Lawrence D. Samuelson, 60 of Devils Lake and Churchs Ferry, ND died on Tuesday evening, January 18, 2005 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake. Funeral Services for Lawrence will be on Saturday, January 22, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, Devils Lake. Rev. Harold Ovre will officiate and burial will be in the Chain Lakes Lutheran Cemetery, rural Churchs Ferry in the spring. Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Music will be cared for by: Peace Lutheran Church Choir with Brenda Swenseth as organist. Lawrence Donald Samuelson was born on August 28, 1944 at Grand Rapids, Minnesota the son of Donald and Julia (Wiltrout) Samuelson. He was reared and educated in Minnesota. Larry married Alice M. Thorp on September 18 1965 at Churchs Ferry, North Dakota. They made their home in Grand Forks and Larry worked as a Parts man for Western Auto. They moved to Minneapolis where he worked as a Truck Driver for Quickie Transport hauling fuel in and around the state for a number of years. In 1982, they moved to Churchs Ferry where they lived and Larry helped his brother-in-law, Curtis with the farming. Alice died on March 27, 2004. Larry was a member of the Chain Lakes Lutheran Church until it closed and now was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. Larry is survived by his: Mother: Judy Samuelson, Hector, MN Sister: Linda Wongstrom, Brainerd, MN Brother: David (Diane) Samuelson, Maplewood, MN Mother-In-Law: Ethel Thorp Brothers-In-Law: Curtis Thorp both of Churchs Ferry Paul (Karen) Thorp, Detroit Lakes, MN Nephews: Aron Samuelson, Jason Thorp and Keith (Amanda) Thorp Nieces: Lee Ann Samuelson, Alexandria Feller and Kjersti Thorp Great Niece: Emma Kate Thorp He was preceded in death by his father, Donald; wife, Alice; father-in-law, William Thorp. Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake.
