Peter L. Schall, 57, of rural Devils Lake, ND died on Monday morning January 24, 2005 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial for Peter will be on Friday, January 28, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Fr. Joseph Christensen will celebrate the Mass.Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Neathery-Simensen Post #756, Devils Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars. Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. with the Rosary led by the Knights of Columbus. Visitation on Friday at the church one hour prior to the service. Serving as Pallbearers will be: John Dunn, Don Holler, Raymond Bertsch, DeLane Hoyt, Bill Lunak and Jake Kuntz. Reading the Scriptures will be Bert Schall and Geralyn Lang. Gift Bearers will be Richard and Mary Ann Ginther. Music will be cared for by Julie Nelson and Fay Huffman and JoDee Lagein, Organist Peter Lawrence Schall was born on October 20, 1947 at Devils Lake, ND the son of Lawrence J. and Regina (Laturnus) Schall. He grew up on a farm near Warwick and attended the Warwick School. He graduated from Warwick High School in 1965. After graduation he did some traveling and helped his father farm. He entered the United States Army on May 9, 1968 at Fargo, ND and served his country during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on May 11, 1970 at Fort Sill, OK with the rank of sergeant. He returned to the Warwick area and worked for Holbeck’s Plumbing and Well Drilling. Peter was united in marriage to Marilyn Sailor on November 16, 1973 at Devils Lake. They established their home in rural Devils Lake where they lived, worked and raised their family. Peter worked for the Burlington Northern/Santa Fe Railroad as a Track Inspector from Devils Lake to Grand Forks. He had retired due to ill health. Peter was a member of the Knights of Columbus of Devils Lake. He always enjoyed being outdoors and working on different projects around the farm. This included tinkering with old tractors he had collected and he also was involved in his son’s Derby Cars. His morning routine included sharing a cup of coffee and conversation with the “Railroad Guys”. Pete was so dearly loved by his family and will be greatly missed. Pete is survived by his wife of 31 years, Marilynn Sons: Dennis Schall Jason Schall Cory (Tobey) Schall Brent (Tasha) Schall all of Devils Lake Grandchildren: Austin, Alyssa, Taylor and Evan Schall Mother: Regina Schall also of Devils Lake Brother and Sister-In-Law: Paul and June Schall, Lakota Mother-In-Law: Phyllis Sailor, Devils Lake Many Nieces and Nephews Preceded in death by his father, Lawrence.
