Hollis R. Hoiberg, 82 of Devils Lake died Monday, February 15, 2010 at the Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake. Funeral Services for Hollis will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake. Rev. Jeff Nicla will officiate and burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Thursday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Serving as Casket Bearers for Hollis will be Ron Hoiberg, Dale Hoiberg, Scott Hoiberg, Mark Askew, Brandon Askew, Joseph Hoiberg, John Winslow and David Foster. Music will be provided by Donovan Foughty, soloist and Lynda Pearson, organist. Hollis Ronald Hoiberg was born on July 3, 1927 at the McVille, North Dakota hospital to Ingvald and Nettie (Jacobson) Hoiberg. He was baptized and confirmed in the Pekin Lutheran Church, Pekin, ND. He attended the Pekin Public School through grade 12, graduating in 1945. On February 14, 1948, he married Carol Olson, daughter of Karl and Alice Olson of Devils Lake. Together they had 5 children; twins Ronald and Dale Hoiberg, Dana Kay Hoiberg, deceased, Scott Hoiberg and Lisa Hoiberg Askew. Hollis has three grandchildren; Brandon Askew, Brittany Askew and Joseph Hoiberg. Hollis started working for the W. S. Sieg Company in May of 1955 and bought the business from Wayne Sieg in 1976. In 1992, he sold the business to his son, Scott, who is the present owner and at that time the name was changed to Hoiberg’s Office Supply and Printing Centre. Hollis was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter, Dana. He is survived by his wife, Carol and four children; twins-Ronald Hoiberg and Dale Hoiberg of Chicago, Illinois, Scott Hoiberg of Devils Lake and Lisa Hoiberg Askew of Fargo. Memorials may be directed to Mercy Hospice or St. Olaf Lutheran Church.
