Patty A. Piper, 76 of Devils Lake formerly of Minnewaukan, ND died on Thursday, August 12, 2010 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake.
Funeral Services for Patty will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. Rev. Jim Harris will officiate and burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery.
Music will be provided by Faye Huffman.
Visitation will be held at Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
Patty, the daughter of Fred and Mettie (Hodges) Culp was born on September 6, 1933 at Tulsa, Oklahoma where she was raised and educated. Eventually, Patty would make her way to North Dakota and on June 2, 1965, she was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” C. Piper. They made their home in the Minnewaukan area for many years. In the late 1990’s they moved to the Great Northern Apartments in Devils Lake. At the time of her death, Patty was a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Devils Lake.
Patty was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Devils Lake and enjoyed all the activities of the church. Even in life’s struggles, Patty was thankful to God for all of her blessings. She missed her husband of 45 years after his death on March 7, 2010 but was so thankful for the love and support of family and friends.
Patty is survived by her son Grady Creech of Tulsa, Oklahoma; six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Lorraine (Tilford) Fossen of Maddock, ND and Evie Piper of Rugby, ND; many nieces, nephews and their families also survive;
Patty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Piper; daughter Pauline Sherrin and sister Dorothy Bryn;
