Obituary

Adam William Bachmeier

July 27, 1939 - March 4, 2026

Adam William Bachmeier Sr. of St. Michael, ND passed away at the age of 86 on Wednesday evening, March 4, 2026, at Essentia Health, Fargo, ND in the loving care of his family.

Adam William, son of Milton and Annie (Kraft) Bachmeier was born on July 27, 1939, in Orrin, North Dakota, also known as the “Sand Hills”. He worked on the family farm, so he was not in school very long. When he was old enough, he worked to help with the expenses that came about for the family. As a young kid, he drove truck for a horse trader and helped on the farm baling and hauling hay.

While living in Tacoma, Washington, Adam, age 24, his brother, Paul, 14, and his dad, Milton, worked at Murphy Salvage. They tore down buildings and salvaged the material from big hotels and other large buildings. He moved back to North Dakota with his folks and continued working for his dad on the farm and in the 1990’s worked road construction with Docken Construction Company. He was a flagman for Harvey Sand and Gravel on and off for several years, Heit Construction for a few years, and delivered the Grand Forks Herald for 7 years. He was a jack of all trades. A hobby of interest for him was horse trading and he was willing to “give you a dollar for it”.

He met and later married Linda Pledger, on September 22,1978.

We treasured each day we had with Adam our loving husband, dad, grandfather, brother, and uncle. We will miss him very much.
