Adelene was born to Angus and Myfanwy Armour in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan on August 16, 1923. She was born at home in the house built by her father. In 1925 the family relocated to Vancouver, BC. Upon the death of her father, Adelene was adopted by her father’s cousin and wife, Cecil and Olga Armour. She came to Devils Lake in 1935 and made this her home until 2019 when she moved to California to live with Heather.

Adelene trained as a nurse at the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in  Devils Lake and at St. Mary’s Hospital in Minneapolis.
For many years she was the Director of Nursing at the Devils Lake Lutheran Convalescent Home.

On March 9, 1945 Adelene and Mark Fredricksen were married at the Army-Air Force Base in Dalhart, Texas. Following military service and Chiropractic School, they returned to Devils Lake. They raised three children: Marlene Zuehlsdorff (Richard), Oakland, California; Mark Fredricksen (Penny), Crystal Springs, Florida and Heather Fredricksen, Lincoln, California.

In later years Adelene was married to Dr. Bill Turkula and then Mark Motis.

Adelene will ever be remembered as kind, friendly, generous, gracious and vivacious. Even in her final days she loved to get dressed up and go for lunch or dinner. She was ever ready for a good party and was so looking forward to her 100th birthday.

Adelene is survived by her three children, 3 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Adelene was preceded in death by her parents, spouses, 6 sisters and a grandson.
