Albert L. Jallo Jr., 86 of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Eventide Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake.

A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake with a time of celebration to continue at the Devils Lake Elks Lodge following the service. Burial will be in the Quale Cemetery, Fordville, ND in the spring. Military Honors will be accorded at that time.

Albert Loren Jallo, Jr. was born on January 7, 1937, in Fordville, ND, the son of Albert and Olga (Wiste) Jallo. He was raised on the family farm along with his thirteen siblings. He attended the Clevland Township School #54 through the eighth grade. He graduated from Dahlen High School in 1954.

Al enlisted in the United States Navy in December of 1954 and served on the USS Bennington Aircraft Carrier. He was honorably discharged in December of 1957 and was the recipient of several ribbons and commendations including Outstanding Performance of Duty and Sailor of the Month. A memorable event while serving was the crossing of the equator on the ship’s way to Australia.

Following his discharge, Al returned to Lankin ND and worked various heavy construction projects; building roads and dams in North Dakota, South Dakota, California and in Washington State at the time of his retirement.

He moved back to North Dakota to his childhood roots; he loved the wide-open spaces, fishing and being closer to family. Al enjoyed anything farm related, old-time music and especially time spent at their lake home on Devils Lake. Albert never missed listening to a Twins game on the radio or watching a game on TV. He was a great fan.

On July 11, 2004, Al married a childhood friend, Margaret “Marge” Kemmet and they established their home in Devils Lake. For the past few years, Al has been a resident of the area nursing home.

Al was a member of the Quale Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed, St. Olaf Lutheran Church, the VFW, American Legion, and a life member of the Elks Lodge.

Al is survived by his wife Marge; children Scott (Norma) Jallo, Dawn Jallo Bledsoe, Shawn (Tarren) Jallo and Tanya Jallo (fiancé Robert Palmer); grandchildren Austin Jallo: Ashley Vorhees, Ryan (Rebecka) Bledsoe: Matthew Jallo, Lilianna Jallo, Storm Bohacek: Warren Holmes, Marqus (Alex) Holmes, Hailey Homes; great grandchildren Grace and Noah Vorhees, Reese, Roman and Roderick Bledsoe, Easton Holmes, Willow Holmes and another great great grandchild on the way; Marge’s son Marlen (Shamrae) Kemmet and their children (Marge’s grandchildren) Sasha (Nathaniel) Oster, Chelsy (Wesley) Meier, Slade (Katie) Kemmet, Carter (Sivani Parsa) Kemmet and the great grandchildren Gary, Audie, Beckett, Ava, Isla, Leo and Cohen; and many dear nieces, nephews and their families also survive.
