Ann M Riggin
Ann “Annie” “Reany” Riggin, 76, lifelong resident of Devils Lake, ND, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Tuesday November 18, 2025.
Annie, daughter of Odin Sabin and Anna (Leon) Sabin was born July 31, 1949, in Devils Lake, ND. She was a proud tough “west sider” where she grew up with her mother, Anna, and siblings Mavis, Carolyn, Michael (Tubby), and Paul (Willie) as well as her “bonus brother” Jason Dale, who lived with them through his high school years.
She was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Kevin Riggin, on September 27th, 1969, and they made their home in Devils Lake. They welcomed two daughters, Kamie and Kori. Annie was absolutely the best mother and her daughters never doubted her love for them. She was also their biggest fan, never missing sporting events, band concerts, or any other event they had. She also loved getting together with life long friends to do anything from playing cards, line dancing, or throwing darts. She had the “biggest heart” and was known to help anyone she could, including taking family or friends into her home, inviting them for holidays so they wouldn’t be alone, or baking her famous cookies to give away (or trade for fresh fish).
In 1989, Kevin surprised Annie with a camper at Woodland Resort and from then on she was always the first one there in the summer and the last one to leave in the fall. She loved her time at the lake with family and friends including bon fires, cruising on the golf cart, hosting every 4th of July, leading the annual Woodland golf cart parade and kids games, and feeding friends and neighbors with her meals and many baked goods.
Annie worked at the Insurance Store in Devils Lake for 25 years and retired in 2004. Kevin and Annie then began going south to Lake Havasu for the winter months and continued spending their summers at Woodland. Annie loved having her kids and grandkids visit no matter where she was. They remember her giving the best hugs, cuddling the night away and always make them laugh with her unique sense of humor. It has been said many times that she was “the best grandma” and she fiercely loved her grandchildren and her newest great grand son.
Annie is survived by her husband of 56 years, Kevin; daughters Kamie (Rob) Kueneman, Fargo, ND and Kori (Travis) Van Liere, Minneapolis, MN; grand children Kaden (Taryn), Kinley and Kendall Kueneman; Gracin, Aubrey, and Vanessa Van Liere; great grandson Hayes Kueneman; sister Carolyn (Norm) Esterberg, Sauk Rapids, MN; Brothers- in-law Dennis (Karen) Riggin Devils Lake, ND, Rory (Charlotte) Riggin Devils Lake, ND; sisters-in-law Rene (Dale) Regan Fargo, ND and Kathy (Scott) Riggin Lappe of Devils Lake, ND; as well as many loved nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Odin and Anna Sabin, sister and brother-in-law Mavis and Clayton Erickstad, brothers Micheal (Tubby) Sabin and Paul (Willie) Sabin, and in-laws June and Les Riggin.
A celebration of Annie’s life will be held on Monday December 1, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Gilbertson Funeral Home in Devils Lake and will continue at the Elks Club in Devils Lake.
