Anna Karin Lang, Devils Lake, ND passed away peacefully Sunday morning, June 14, 2026, while residing at Valley Senior Living in Grand Forks, ND at the age of 82.

There will be visitation at Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, ND on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 4 to 6 pm. A private family burial on Saturday, June 20 at 10 am with Pastor Kevin Anderson of River of Life Church officiating.

Karin Lang was born Anna Karin Keller in Frankfurt Germany on September 4, 1943, to parents Wilhelm and Margaret Keller. Karin’s family resided in Rodelheim, Germany where she was raised and attended school. Though a smaller community, its neighboring location to Frankfurt resulted in much collateral damage from bombing raids during WWII, and the apartment Karin was raised in was one of the few left unscathed at the end of the war. As a child, Karin was enamored with medieval Europe, and she and her father spent many weekends exploring cathedrals and castle ruins throughout Germany and neighboring countries.

Karin loved to ski, was a good athlete, and combined the two, to spend much time skiing in the Alps. Karin’s schooling consisted of primary school and then secondary school where she was attending secretary training.

Karin met the love of her life, Richard Lang, a Sergeant in the US Army, while he was stationed in Frankfurt in 1961. Two years later, she moved to the US to marry him in Finley, ND on February 6, 1963. They lived in North Dakota only a short time before moving to the state of Washington. There they lived for a decade before relocating back to North Dakota where they would live the rest of their days.

Karin and Richard made their home in Doyon for over 15 years and raised their three kids before moving to Devils Lake in 1990. It was here they would reside until they passed away. The early years of her marriage were spent as a wife and mother, though upon moving back to North Dakota, Karin spent over a decade as a supervisor for Sioux Manufacturing on the Spirit Lake Reservation.

Karin was part of a small contingent of Immigrants who were granted citizenship in a special ceremony for the bicentennial, on July 4th, 1976, on a stage at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks.

She and Richard loved to drive and spent much time just “going for drives and seeing some country. Until her parent’s and brother’s passing, Karin and kids were frequent visitors to family in Rodelheim. Karin also belonged to a group of local women with German heritage which kept her fluent in the language. Karin was a quiet, reserved woman, a voracious reader and devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother “Oma” and Great Grandmother. She will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard on May 29, 2008, daughter Debra Sue on November 10, 2000, parents, brother, and other beloved family members.

She is survived by two sons, James (Naomi) Lang, and Jason Lang; grandchildren, Monique (Andy) Manz, Rebecca Lang, Richard Lang, Alexandria Lang, Bailey Lang, and numerous great grandchildren.
