Arvin Curtis Carlson, 78, went home to his maker on July 13, 2025 in Devils Lake, ND.
Arvin was born on July 10, 1947 in Fordville, ND, the son of Olger and Ione (Bondy) Carlson. Arvin grew up on a farm outside Dahlen, ND. He attended elementary and middle school at Dahlen Elementary, then attended Unity High School where he graduated in 1965. Continuing his education Arvin attended NDSSS in Wahpeton, ND and obtained his Associates Degree in Applied Science for Electrical Technology.
Throughout his career he was employed by Nesheim Electric, Samson Electric, and Lightening Electric until his retirement in 2010. In addition to the above contractors, Arvin worked for Boeing splicing outdated communications cable at various missile sites in Eastern ND. As indicated above, Arvin’s electrical career started in Fargo in 1967.
Wanting to be closer to home he relocated to Park River, ND and began working for Samson Electric for several years. Arvin then moved to Devils Lake, ND and worked mainly for Lightening Electric as well as a stint with Boeing, retiring in 2010.
In retirement Arvin drove students to and from the Deaf School to their home location during the school year. He loved working there as well, building lasting relationships with the kids and their families.
Outside of family, Arvin’s passion was everything and anything pertaining to golf. Arvin loved to play golf, talk about golf, read about golf, always in search of the perfect grip, setup, and swing. Prior to taking up golf Arvin played many years of softball being about the best 1st baseman in the league. One of his favorite games was when he and his two brothers got to play together in a tournament, taking 1st place.
Arvin also liked to go on drives to see what's new in the neighborhood. Many of these drives ended up being long so a return time was never given nor expected. It was always interesting to get his take on the world.
Arvin is survived by his wife Gay, son Ian Curtis Carlson with fiancée Kari Jo Taylor and their son Easton Curtis all of Devils Lake, son Dustin Glen Carlson of Fargo, ND, and brother Jerry Carlson and his wife Susan of Peyton, CO. Additionally, we cannot forget his beloved cats, Clyde and Claire.
Arvin is preceded in death by his parents, Olger and Ione Carlson, and brother Morland Carlson.
Music will be provided by Beth Carlson, Kaye Carlson, and Noreen Sievertson. Casket Bearers will be Chris Carlson, Russell Carlson, Jamie Brody and John Bondy. Special Reading by Beth Carlson.
