Barbara Jean Orness, 76 of Devils Lake formerly of Valley City, ND passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at her home.

Barbara Jean Orness passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 3, 2026. Barbara was the daughter of Theodore (Ted) and Hazel Orness. Barbara spent the past 36 years in Devils Lake. Prior to that she lived in Valley City, ND and Jamestown. ND. Barbara lived with her mother until her mother’s passing in 1998. She then lived in her own apartment with assistance from REM until recently moving into assisted living.

Barbara always had a smile and when asked how she was she always replied, “Super Fine”. She had a heart of gold and a contagious laugh. She especially loved kittens and was always ready to eat out.

She is survived by Stan (Sharon) Orness Devils Lake, ND and Terry (Julie) Orness Peyton, Colorado along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her sister Judy Olstad and brother-in- law Ronald Olstad, sisters-in-law Connie Albright Orness and Janice Trader Orness.

Funeral services are pending for Saturday May 2, 2026 at the Gilbertson Funeral Home in Devils Lake. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens beside her Parents near Valley City, ND following service.
