Blanche M. Harmon

Blanche M. Harmon, 99 of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Monday, January 13, 2020 at Eventide Devils Lake Care Center. 

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake with Bill Biby and Jeff Deckert officiating. Burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery.

Blanche M. Walford was born April 17, 1920 in Devils Lake, ND the daughter of Frank and Kathryn (DeBoer) Walford. She attended rural Grove School through the 8^th grade and graduated from Devils Lake Central High School in 1938. 

She received her nurses training at the General Hospital in Devils Lake and for a time worked at San Haven and the McVille Hospital. In the early 1940’s she made her home in Colorado Springs, CO and worked at St. Francis Hospital. 

In 1946, Blanche married Charles “Chet” Harmon of Brinsmade, ND. They made their home at Wilmar, MN and she worked at Rice Memorial Hospital.  They returned to rural Devils Lake where her husband was employed at the Concrete Sectional Culvert Company.  In 1985, Chet retired and they moved into Devils Lake.

 She loved her family and was always available to help family and friends.  She kept busy in the summer working in her vegetable garden and with her flowers.  She was involved with the Lakewood Chapel and Camp FaHoCha for many years, working with Stan and Simone Hockett, and was once an active member of MOPS. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Chet, daughter Ginny, son Lee, sister Lorraine and brother Morgan. Survivors include her son Glenn Harmon of Mandan and daughter and son-in-law Bill and Gail Biby of Fargo, several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
