Bonnie Ruth Friesen was born October 26, 1936, in the family home at Butterfield, Minnesota to Roland and Laura (Linscheid) Friesen. Bonnie was the middle child with 2 sisters; her twin brother died at birth. She grew up in Butterfield and participated in many activities in Junior High and High School; band and chorus, babysitting, teaching Daily Vacation Bible School/Child Evangelism, and waitress at local café. She graduated from Butterfield High School in 1954.
Bonnie and Dwayne met at the church she attended when he visited his sisters who also attended there. Long distance “dating” kept the mailman busy. They were married in Mt. Lake, Minnesota on October 30, 1954 and moved to the Herman family farm in Brinsmade, ND where they welcomed and raised their 2 sons and 2 daughters.
Bonnie was a homemaker and so much more; partner in Herman Photo, managing the business out of their home, ministering through music with the Hermans and Hills as they shared their faith through slides and music. She was an industrious and creative mother to her family, gardener, seamstress, chairman of Christian Woman’s Club, member of Homemakers Club, Bible study, active with MOPS, AWANA, Sunday School teacher, volunteer for community events, singer in Silver Sensations, planned Parkway North Condo’s and managed them for 12 years and created countless award winning quilts. She faithfully visited and prepared food for those in need, touching many hearts with her thoughtfulness.
Bonnie will be remembered by all who knew her as a beautiful, caring and generous woman. Her strong faith in Jesus Christ was shown in her actions. She loved the Lord, Dwayne and each member of her family with all of her heart.
Bonnie is survived by her husband of 70 ¾ years, Dwayne Herman; children, Randall (Debra) Herman, Regional (Eileen) Herman, Robyn (Kevin) Thompson, Rhonda (Timothy Auen).
19 grandchildren; Stephanie (Chris) Hayden, Nathan (Amy) Herman, Karan (Chris) Blair, Lauren (Alex) Sprunk, Justin (Karrie) Herman, Jordan (Amanda) Herman, George (Nicole) Herman, Nikki (Beau) Snyder, Mylie (Sam) Getchell, Olivia (Josh) Johnson, Davis (Megan) Thompson, Tad (Brittany) Thompson, Katrece (Jon) Novacek, Miriah Thompson, Casey Johnson, Tia (Matthew) Rimola, Colin (Sophia) Johnson, Darian (Amber) Johnson, Derrick Johnson; 38 great-grandchildren; sister, Patsy Spurlin, many dear nieces, nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Laura Friesen, sister, MaryLou Owczarek, and twin brother at birth Larry Friesen.
