Bruce E. Pallansch

Bruce E. Pallansch, 70 of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Monday, November 4, 2019 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND with loving family at his side.

Visitation and viewing will be held on Friday, November 8, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, ND.   A Celebration of Life Open House Memorial Service will be held at the Ramsey County Event Center, rural Devils Lake on Saturday, November 9, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.  Everyone is welcome and casual dress-flannels and camouflage were his favorites.

Bruce Eugene Pallansch, son of Donald J. “DJ” and Janet C. (Patterson) Pallansch was born on July 25, 1949 in McVille, ND. He grew up in Tolna, attended Tolna Public School through 8th grade.  The family moved to Devils Lake and Bruce graduated from Central High School with the class of 1967.  He continued his education at UND where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Education with a major in English.  Bruce was at one time married to Vickie Reynolds and they were the proud parents of Aaron.

He worked for Strong’s Excavating for several years and many years at Nordic Fiberglass, retiring in 2002. Bruce then started “Peks Painting”, owning and operating the business until his death.

Bruce was united in marriage to Karen Syverson in 2003 and they shared a wonderful life together. They were best friends.   Bruce loved his family very much, they were his world.  Bruce gave the appearance of being a “tough guy” but that all changed when he became a Grandpa.  Rylan and Charlee melted his heart, they were his pride and joy.

Bruce was a kind hearted, fun loving, lippy, generous and always an optimist guy. If you needed help, Bruce was there.  He was a private and brave man too.  He kept his leukemia diagnosis from friends and family because he didn’t want them worrying about him.  He wanted them to know he was there for them always.

Bruce was a member of the Lake Region Anglers, Ducks Unlimited and charter member and President of D.A.I. (Friday Night Bingo Club). He loved fishing, waterfowl, upland game and deer hunting.  He was the ultimate Minnesota Twins fan and listened and watched every game they played.  He cheered for the Minnesota Vikings through thick and thin too.  He read newspapers and dozens of magazines from cover to cover every day.  This man, loved his family, loved his friends and loved and lived life to the fullest.

Bruce’s loving family include his wife Karen; son Aaron (Laurie) Pallansch and grandchildren Rylan and Charlee; sister Bonnie Lester; in-laws Julie and Dwight Bergeron, Devils Lake; nieces Andrea Barendt and Valerie (Matt) Carman and nephew Shawn Keller.

He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law and mother-in-law Stanley and Ludwena Syverson and brother-in-law Mike Syverson.

Honorary Bearers will be the other 2 charter members of D.A.I. David Zimmerman, Vice President and Dwight Bergeron, Secretary and Treasurer and dear friends Lanny Duhamel, Doug Halvorson, Jamie Spidahl, James Andrews, Bill and Gayle Wakefield and Jim Wakefield. Music will be a playlist of Bruce’s favorite songs.
