Catherine Weber, 87 of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Tuesday morning, August 4, 2020 at CHI, St. Alexius Health, Devils Lake Hospital.
Catherine Mary Kueneman was born on April 15, 1933 in Balcarres, Saskatchewan, Canada to George and Lavina (Schill) Kueneman. She grew up around the Langdon, North Dakota area and attended country schools and also three years in Langdon at St. Alphonsus Catholic School.
The family then moved to a farm northeast of Munich ND and Catherine finished grade school at Rosehill Country School. Catherine then did babysitting, worked as a housekeeper for several area families and eventually worked as a CNA at Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake.
Catherine was united in marriage to Mathias “Mathie” Weber on October 14, 1954 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Munich. They established their home on a farm in Seivert Township where they farmed and raised their family through the years.
Catherine was always active in gardening, canning, selling cream and eggs. As a member of St. Boniface Church at Calio ND she was very active in all the church activities including teaching CCD for several years, served as a faithful member of Christian Mothers and the Altar Society and led the rosary before Mass for several years. After St. Boniface closed, the family attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Munich. After moving to Devils Lake in 1989, Catherine again was a devoted and active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Jude’s Circle and the Altar Society.
Catherine enjoyed making quilts, embroidering, setting picture puzzles, playing cards and BINGO. She loved and treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Catherine and Math were married for 56 years until Math passed away on March 9, 2011.
Catherine’s loving family include her children and their spouses Marilyn and Quinn Dalgliesh, Bisbee ND, Wanda and Raymond Risser, Jamestown ND, Kenneth and Linda Weber also of Devils Lake, Lois and Dwight Tohm, Calio ND and Ione and Keith Knudson, Kulm ND; grandchildren Sheila Dalgliesh, Aaron Dalgliesh; Rachel (Tom) Geisthardt, Jessica (Tony Eidenschinck) Risser; Kristy Weber, Kelsey Weber (Josh Kulas), Bobbi Jo Weber (Chad), Kristina Weber (Nathan); Eric (Tawnee) Tohm, Roxanne (Brad) Erickstad, Dana (Eric) McArthur, Benjamin Tohm; Jarvis (Alesha) Knudson, Julia (Travis) Mathern, Alex (Lindsey) Knudson, Tucker Knudson; 30 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; brother Bob (Clarice) Kueneman, Devils Lake; sister Rita Senger, Bismarck ND; sister-in-law Arlene Kueneman; many nieces, nephews and their families.
Catherine was reunited with her husband Math, parents, grandsons Chad Weber and Nathan Weber, brothers Frank (Zella), Harold (Bonnie), George (Anna), Richard, James, sister Shirley (Robert) Ray and Joseph Kueneman, Mary Kueneman in infancy; brother-in-law Danny Senger.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake with the Very Reverend C.F. Wilhelm celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Tuesday, August 11th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Catherine’s son Ken will lead the Rosary. Visitation on Wednesday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass.
Casket Bearers will be Catherine’s Grandsons and Honorary Bearers will be Catherine’s Granddaughters. Reading the Scriptures will be Roxanne Erickstad and Kelsey Weber. Eucharist Gift Bearers will be Kristy Weber, Julia Mathern, Rachel Geisthardt, Jessica Risser and Dana McArthur. Music will be provided by Lynne Webster and Audrey Myklebust. Altar Servers will be John and Chase Weber.
