Charles V. Small

Charles Vieles Small, 44 began his earthly journey on May 9, 1977 in Culbertson, Montana, the son of Margaret (Green) and Ronald Small and began his journey to the Spirit World on May 7, 2022 at Minot, North Dakota. 

Wake Services will be held at Dakotah Oyate Lutheran Church, rural Tokio ND on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a time of Prayer at 7:00 p.m.  The procession to Tokio will leave at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday from City Plaza, Devils Lake.  Funeral Services will be at the church on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. with burial in the Bdecan Presbyterian Cemetery. Reverend Larry Thiele will officiate and music will be provided by Milton Green Sr. and all Drum Groups are welcome to share their songs in memory of Charles.

Active Pallbearers will be Douglas Belle, Derick Jackson, Anthony Guy, John Tollefson Jr., Eric Joramo, Jayden Albertson, Blaine Leftbear and Elijah Feather.  Honorary Pallbearers will be John Tollefson and family, Myrtle Olson and family, Esther Davis Hapa and family, Phyllis Prairie Chief and family, Lewis BuckElk and family Marva and John Tollefson, Teresa BuckElk and family, Tamara Davis and family, Winona Ross and family, Joel Redfox and family, Blaine Leftbear and family, Elijah Feather and family.

Charles attended the Warwick Public School where he had joined the basketball team and went to State Class B Tournament for Warwick.  After his high school years, he then moved to Minot ND and methis wife Rachelle Albertson Small and they started a family.  While living in Minot, Charles worked at Cloverdale and most recently had worked for many years at the Minot YMCA.

Charles had a strong love for his children and treasured his family.  He loved the company of family and friends. His favorite professional basketball team were the Boston Celtics and NFL team were the Denver Bronco’s. 

Charles will be greatly missed by his family, relatives and his many dear friends.

Charles is survived by his 4 sons Jayden Albertson (fiancé Dominique Alfaro) and Charles’s  grandsons Sebastian and Asher all of Fargo, Isaiah Small, Jeremiah Small and Keiran Small all of Minot; daughter Tehya Small also of Minot; his companion of 7 years, Bernadette Ehlers, Minot; sister Joleen Small of Spirit Lake Nation; brothers Elliot Small of Utah and Joel Small of Devils Lake; aunts Myrtle Olson, Esther Davis Hapa, Phyllis Prairie Chief, Charlene Green and Marveen Eliserio; uncles Lewis BuckElk, Lawrence Green Jr., George Green, Milton Green Sr., Robert Green, Richard Green and Ross Green; special cousins Felicia Demarce and Elwayne Green; many cousins, nieces, nephews too numerous to mention from Montana, South Dakota, North Dakota and Texas.  He loved you all. 

He was welcomed home to Heaven by his Lord, his parents Ronald Small and Margaret Small, grandparents Nancy BuckElk, Eunice and Lawrence Green Sr., brother Milton Green Jr., aunt Dorothy SpottedBird, uncle Dalton Green and cousin Macelwayne Bear.
