Charlotte Dwuletzki was born on June 27, 1936 in Poland, the daughter of Emil and Luzie Dwuletzki.  She grew up and was educated in Poland.

One evening at a dance in Germany, Charlotte met Ron Gonser, who was serving with the United States Air Force in Germany.  He swept her off her feet and he married the love of his life on November 16, 1960 in Germany.  Ron still had several months of duty so he sent Charlotte home to Devils Lake ND to the care of his parents until his discharge.

Charlie and Ron established their home in Devils Lake where they lived, worked, raised their daughters and shared 60 plus years of love and a beautiful life together.  After the children started school, Charlie began working at the First National Bank, which later became Bremer Bank.  She started as a teller, advanced to internal auditor and at retirement was doing credit analysis.  She was a dedicated, hard-working employee for 35 years.   She loved her work and always looked forward to the bank picnics where she discovered a hidden talent as a volleyball player.

Growing up in Poland, Charlie frequently served her favorite foods, sausage wurst, sauerkraut, pickled herring and hard rolls.  Knowing this might not be everyone’s favorites, she worked very hard to cook and bake all of the other family favorites and was an excellent cook.  She was a talented seamstress and knitter, making clothes, blankets and hats for her daughters and grandkids.  She was an avid gardener, growing vegetables, canning her beets and cucumbers and tending her beautiful rose gardens.  And on many of our beautiful North Dakota days, she and Ron would be out and about on the motorcycle.  They enjoyed travelling and visited family in Germany.  Charlie was never idle and was always on the go.

Charlie was a devoted wife, loving mother and her grandchildren were her pride and joy.  She had a heart of love, and loved everyone that came into her life no matter how briefly.

Charlie’s loving family include her husband Ron; daughter Jeanette (Kevin) Wixo, Grand Forks ND; grandchildren Mandy Wixo also of Grand Forks, Chace (Chase)(Engstrom) Austvold, Leeds ND and Cullen Engstrom of Valley City ND; sister Brigette Weinfürter of Germany; a niece Jeanette and a nephew Andreas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, precious daughter Suzanne and in-laws Dwight and Dorothy Gonser.

Casket Bearers will be Mandy Wixo, Kevin Wixo, Chace Austvold, Chase Austvold and Cullen Engstrom. Music will be provided by Joyce Carter and Hope Jury.
