Clarice E. Fox

Funeral Services for Clarice will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake ND. She will be laid to rest with her mother Bernadette. There will be a feed following the service, place yet to be determined.  It will be held at the Tekakwitha Center. 

Clarice Elizabeth Windy Boy-Fox began her journey to the Spirit World on May 18, 2025, at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck at the age of 55.

Clarice Elizabeth Windy Boy, daughter of Bernadette Mazakahomni Feather and Sam Vernon Windy Boy was born August 17, 1969. Later Bernadette remarried Michael “Demus” McDonald, who raised Clarice as his own.

Clarice attended Fort Totten Public School and Four Winds High School, where she excelled in her studies. After graduating she spent 2 years at Trapper Creek Job Corps in Montana, where she graduated with a Pre-Apprenticeship Certification in Union Carpentry.

It was at this time Clarice fell ill and was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis, a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy. She spent the next year at the Mayo Clinic where her ailment was stabilized.

Regardless of her disability and medical situation, she still worked at Spirit Lake Clinic doing Medical Coding and then at Trinity Hospital in Minot also doing Medical Coding. Clarice graduated from United Tribes Technical College.

Clarice enjoyed attending Dakotah traditional ceremonies. She loved to cook and do crafting. She made beautiful jewelry, star quilts and ceremony regalia. She loved playing BINGO and spending time with family and friends.

Clarice spent 25 years married to Loren Fox. They took their vows on August 30, 1994.

Clarice is survived by her father Sam Vernon Windy Boy; siblings Elrae Mazakahomni, James McDonald, JoAnn McDonald, Justine McDonald, and Michael “Mikey” McDonald; aunt Lavern Bear; several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Bernadette and Demus, aunts Eldora, Cindy, Cecelia, and Twyla; uncles Greg (Lavonne), Bruce, Joe, Stacy, Gary, and Ivan; brother Raymond Windy Boy, grandparents Moses and Clara Mazakahomni-Feather.

Honorary Bearers will be Deb LaVallie, Tammy Blueshield, Tanya Feather, Missy Feather, Delma Feather, Oscar Feather, Clarice Jones, Corinna LaVallie, and Gloria Buck Elk.
