March 24, 1938 - January 3, 2022

Claudie Lee Watterson was born on March 24, 1938 in Berkeley, CA the daughter of Gertrude (Young) Watterson and Claude Watterson. Claudia spent the first few years of her childhood in California before relocating to ND in 1947. Claudia attended school at St. Mary's Academy in Devils Lake.

Claudia was united in marriage to Roger (Bud) Stoe on May 27, 1955. They established their family home south of Penn near many members of the Stoe family. Claudia earned her GED from NDSU and AA degree from Lake Region Community College. She enjoyed sewing and was active in the local homemakers club. Claudia was the family coordinator for many years before entering the work force. She worked at Coast to Coast, Klemetsrud Plumbing and Devils Lake Public Schools. Together, Claudia and Bud enjoyed square dancing, snowmobiling, golfing and UND hockey games.

After retirement, Claudia and Bud lived in their RV (referred to as the "rig") and traveled the US. They would eventually return to Apache Junction, AZ year after year. Claudia enjoyed playing cards - particularly hand & foot, water aerobics, hiking and searching for bargains at yard sales. Claudia and Roger were able to take a once in a lifetime trip to Norway in 2015 to tour the country and research the lineage of the Stoe (Sto) family name. Claudia's wit, sense of humor, ability to banter and most of all, her smile, will be missed by many.

Claudia is survived by her sons, Tom (Dawn) Stoe and Robert Stoe (both of Devils Lake), daughters Dawn Hebert and Lynn (Doug) Synhorst (both of Fargo), grandchildren Michelle (Matt) Sagedahl, Dain (Abby) Synhorst, Doug (Mandy) Iverson, Beka (Bridger) Urban, Riley Stoe and Dillon(Kelly Moeller) Hebert, as well as two great granddaughters, Havin and Saylor Sagedahl, sister Karen (Cliff) Ludwig (Devils Lake) and several nieces, nephews and their families.

Claudia was preceded in death by her husband, Roger (Bud), son, James Stoe, her parents Gertrude Watterson and Claude Watterson, in-laws, Helmer and Amanda Stoe, sisters-in-law, MaryAnn Steinke and Evonne Bryl.

A Celebration of Life to honor the life of Claudia will be held in the summer when family and friends can gather in Devils Lake.
