Totten High School, In his youth he enjoyed playing sports including baseball and basketball but his most loved sport was boxing.  He and his little brother Eugene were Golden Glove Boxers. He fought in the heavyweight division for the Ft. Totten Boxing Team.  His love for and skill in boxing took him and his team traveling across many states for Boxing events. He was fortunate to have fought in bouts alongside ND Legend Virgil Hill, he also traveled to the Olympic Trials in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Clifford's past times growing up, he loved to work on cars especially his classics and he loved his 50's and 60's music.

In later years he returned to his culture and traditions to add to his enjoyments in life now which were dancing at Pow Wows and running his business Little Wind Sound.  He made many friends during his years of traveling to pow wows who became like family over many states and Canada.  Clifford enjoyed sharing good times with his pow wow family and friends, their visits and sharing traditions was a highlight of his last many years.  He generously shared helping others whenever called upon by community members, family, and friends with any of their requests for his assistance.  He would prioritize their needs as very important to share what he could.

Clifford's work career was within various programs of his Spirit Lake Tribe and brought his skills and training into the field of Water Resource Management. He was a key part of developing Sioux Utilities in its beginning years and worked with the Tribal Health Division in the development of the Tribes Solid Waste service infrastructure and in its years of planning the millions of dollars project.  He was a strong advocate for community safety and meeting the needs of our districts during the many years of lake flooding.  Clifford was an active, involved, and committed community member for the betterment of his Tribe.  He was a strong proactive community, Tribal and federal counterpart working, meeting, and an attendee.  He wasn't afraid to challenge the discussion, bring the topics to straight forward discussions and wanted actions that would help his community, project, or interest in quality of services for the people.  His declining health forced him into retirement and leaving those activities he loved to participate in life.
