Dana S. Schlieve

Dana S. Schlieve, 32 of Devils Lake ND passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 due to injuries sustained in an accident on Lake Irvin. 

Funeral Services for Dana will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 10:30 a.m.at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake ND with Reverend Jim Paulson, Pastor of St. Olaf Lutheran Church officiating.  Burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery. 

A walk-through visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. 

Dana Scott Schlieve, precious son of Dwaine Schlieve and LaVonne (Deseth) Schlieve was born on June 23, 1988 at Bismarck ND.  He was reared and educated in Devils Lake, graduating from Devils Lake High School with the class of 2006.  He continued his education at the Northland Technical College in East Grand Forks MN and graduated as a certified welder.  Dana worked with his Dad on the farm and his talents as a welder came in very handy many times. 

Dana loved the land, he loved the outdoors, he loved fishing and hunting.  Lately he seemed to be collecting cars, and was working on fixing them, restoring them to a drivable condition. 

Dana was a quiet and kind-hearted soul.  He had many good friends, but was content to walk looking for deer or be on the lake by himself.  He treasured his family, his many friends and his dogs Brutus and Mya.

Our hearts ache, tears flow as we say goodbye to our son, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. 

Dana’s loving family include his dad Dwaine Schlieve; grandparents Don and Lola Schlieve, Nick and Barb Reiners, half sister Sara Mercer-Sailor all of Devils Lake; uncles and aunts Brian (Jill) Schlieve, Lonnie Deseth, Larry Deseth, Loren Deseth, LaRay Klier, LeAnn (Tom) Charon, Lonna (Tim) Gee and Lori Daniels; several great uncles, great aunts and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother LaVonne Schlieve Mercer, uncle Scott Schlieve, grandfather Harlan Deseth, great grandparents Alfton and Luella Olson, Robert and Mary Schlieve and Esther Tollefson.
