Daniel A. Kraft

Daniel Anthony Kraft, 73 of St. Michael, ND passed away at his home on Saturday, March 23, 2024 from complications of lung cancer and dementia. He was in Hospice Care and also the loving care of his daughter Jenann and son-in-law Tyrone Artis and his life partner Allyson who were by his side.

Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, St. Michael, ND. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery.

Daniel was the 12th child born to Joseph Peter “JP” and Juliana (Volk) Kraft on April 1, 1950.

He attended Prairie View School from 1956-59 at which time they moved to St. Michael, ND where he was enrolled in the Mission School until 1960 and then he attended Warwick Public School from 1960 to 1963.

In 1963 he went to work for Powell Motor Company washing cars. It was at this time he fell in love with all the older cars and wanting to restore them. Some of them would turn out looking better than they did brand new.

In 1968, he went to work for Kurtz Construction. It was in September of 1968 he met his life partner Allyson Berg. From 1970 to 1975, Daniel worked for the railroad, the oil rig in Niagara, ND. In May of 1975 they were blessed with a baby girl, Jenann. From 1975 to 1981 he worked for the Concrete Sectional; he left for a time to go into business for himself; then returned to Concrete Sectional in 1984.

In 1995, Daniel went to work for Stan Orness at Black Magic, working on his cars and helping with the car shows. He first belonged to Lake Region Antique Car Club, now a long-time member of the Happy Devils Car Club and so enjoyed time with all the other members.

Daniel is survived by his life partner Allyson Berg; daughter Jenann (Tyrone Artis) Kraft; sisters Veronica Saxberg, Mary Rutten, Marge Kainz and Dorothy Comer; sisters-in-law Agnes (Ed) Kraft and Kaye (Frank) Kraft; He is also survived by a lot of nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Frank Kraft, Lawrence Kraft and Edward Kraft, sisters Alice Kraft, Elly Pace, Maggie (Kraft) Garmen, Eva (Kraft) McClain and Julia (Kraft) Spidahl, brothers-in-law John Pace Sr., Gene Garmen, Tom McClain, Jerry “Bud” Spidahl, sister-in-law Mary (Lawrence) Kraft.
