Darlis Ann Longie, “Wanmdi Hupahu Duta Kaga Win”, (Makes Red Eagle Wings) 65, of St. Michael, ND passed away August 26, 2020 at Sanford Medical Center Bismarck, ND surrounded by her loving family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at 11:00 am at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Reverend Paul Shuster celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery with her beloved daughter Rondina. The procession to St. Michael will leave at 10 am on Wednesday, September 2 from City Plaza, Devils Lake. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic and great concern for the safety of the family and community members, the family has restricted the services to immediate family members only. Darlis Ann, daughter of William and Gertrude Cavanaugh was born on February 1, 1955. Darlis attended Little Flower School St. Michael, ND for her elementary and middle school years before receiving her High School diploma from Crow Creek Reservation School Stefan, SD, then continuing on to Lake Region Junior College receiving her Associate of Arts Degree in May 1979.
Darlis and Phillip “Skip” Longie made a loving home in St. Michael after their marriage on November 16, 1977. Darlis held various positions within the community including Western State Bank as a Bank Manager, Manager of the Bingo Palace then moving to the Spirit Lake Bingo. After her years of employment with the Bingo she started her years of service with the Four Winds Elementary School System holding several titles.
Darlis will be greatly missed, forever loved and forever in the hearts of her family including her husband of 43 blissful years Skip. Children Thorton IronLightning, Kooper Longie, Ivy Longie, and Callaway Longie. Step children Phillip (Cheryl) D. Longie, Nancy (Hyllis) Dauphinais, Mary Kay Longie-Bailly. Hunka children; Clair, Tana, and Uli Fox, grandchildren; Alyssa, Jordan, Jonathan, Orion, Hyllis, Brett, Alex, Zaiden, Emiko, Ryder, Kiera, Ontario, Parker, Maize, and Micah. Sisters Laureen “Faye” (Raymond) Jetty, and Jeanine Cavanaugh. Brother William (Carolyn) Cavanaugh. Many dear nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her mother; Gertrude Cavanaugh, father; William Cavanaugh, daughter; Rondina Longie, hunka son; Julian (Goose) Fox, brothers; Stanley Cavanaugh, Gregory Cavanaugh, and Randall Cavanaugh, nieces; Laura Jetty, and Nicolette Wolf Leader, and god son; Zephren Jetty and other dear family members.
