David D. MacArthur

David D. MacArthur, 75 of Reno, Nevada formerly of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2019.

David Douglas MacArthur was born in Langdon, ND on August 29, 1943 to Gilbert and Elsie (McNaught) MacArthur. He graduated from Devils Lake High School with the class of 1961.  He then attended Lake Region Junior College and obtained an LPN degree.  He enrolled at Minot State University and graduated with a degree in Special Education. 

David worked for the Department of Defense for 30 years as a teacher for the hearing impaired. He taught deaf children how to communicate so they could mainstream into a regular high school setting.  His employment took him to Germany, Italy, Korea and Okinawa.  While in Korea, David adopted his son Mark. 

David took early retirement in 1998 from the Department of Defense and later moved to Nevada where he has resided for the past 15 years.

David is survived by his son Mark (Cindy) MacArthur of Reno, NV; grandson Kyle Kim and granddaughter Kaylee Kim; brother Robert “Butch” (Lynn) MacArthur of Fargo; sister-in-law Betty MacArthur, Devils Lake; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Gilbert and Elsie, sister Nelda (Selmer) Berg; brothers Jack MacArthur and Rick MacArthur.

Funeral Services for David will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake with burial in the Corinthian Cemetery, rural Calvin, ND.
