David O. Moe a life long resident of Devils Lake ND passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at the age of 62 years.
The will be a visitation at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Service for David will be on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake with Reverend Lori Pankratz officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Devils Lake Cemetery with Military Honors.
David Oliver, son of Henry Gordon and Frances (Kuntz) Moe was born on June 7, 1963 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake. He attended Prairieview Elementary school and graduated from Central High School with the class of 1983. David joined the Army National Guard on December 5, 1980 at the age of 17 and served with the Company F, 2nd Battalion in active duty and also with the reserves until June 7, 1986. While in the National Guards, David received spelling training in Fuel and Electrical Systems Repair.
David was united in marriage to Carla Lang on August 31, 1983 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church and they would live, work, and raise their family here their entire lives. For a time, David worked a variety jobs in the area mostly as a mechanic and doing small engine repair.
In 1993, David began employment with the BTR Elevator Company, doing everything from loading grain into trains, to driving the train and whatever they needed him for and advanced in the company, managing the fertilizer plant and in 2018 began as manager of the Cendak Leeds Elevator until his death.
Even as a worked full-time, his hobby continued to be working after hours as a mechanic and small engine repairman. He never said no to anyone who asked for his help and honestly if David couldn’t fix it, it couldn’t be fixed. He was well-known as an honest, hard working man, well-liked by everyone.
If David did take a little time for himself, you knew he was out riding motorcycle, one of his favorite pastimes or out driving the old car with family.
David honorably served his country, loved his family with all his heart, and treasured his close friends.
David is survived by his wife of 41 years, Carla; children Ryan Lang, Robert Moe and Joanna Moe all of Devils Lake; grandchildren Jayden, Zander, Morgan and Rylee; brothers Jim (Sheryl) Moe, Devils Lake and Dennis Moe of Grand Forks, ND; sister Patty (Marvin) Bye also Devils Lake; in-laws David (Marilyn) Lang, Fargo ND, Linda (Dale) Risinger, Devils Lake, Barb Lang, Devils Lake, Nancy Hagen, Fargo, ND and many dear nieces, nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and niece Kristen Nicole Bye.
Casket Bearers will be Jayden Gray, Chris Moe, Bryce Moe, Tony Gratton, Chris Geir, Rich Godman and Jeff Hahn.
