Debra Jean Adams, “Iyuskinpi Yàni Win” (Happy for Life Woman)
Born December 26, 1951 to Marie “Lohnes” LaCroix and Ben “Banjo” Dubois and raised by Jerome Adams. Debbie passed away June 29, 2026, at Altru Grand Forks hospital with family by her side.
The wake for Debbie will be held Wednesday July 8, 2026 at the St. Michael’s Recreation Center starting at 6:00pm. The procession will leave from the City Plaza, Devils Lake, ND to St. Michael’s Recreation Center at 4:30pm, Wednesday July 8, 2026. Prayer service will start at 7:00pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday July 9, 2026 at 10:00am. at St. Michae’ls Catholic Church. Burial will be at the St. Michael’s Cemetery.
Debbie was born and raised on the Spirit Lake Reservation. She lived in Devils Lake, ND for most of her adult life, and met the love of her life Clarence Houle in 1995. She moved back to the Spirit Lake Nation with her “Clarence”. She cherished spending time with her kids and her grandkids and time when family and friends came to visit.
Debbie knew how to have a good time and have fun up until the day she passed. Debbie had a contagious smile and a laugh that will be truly missed.
Though her earthly journey has ended, her spirit will continue to live on through her children and grandchildren, family, friends and all whose lives she has touched. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
Debbie was the proud mother of two children Lane Adams Sr., Tricia Adams, and three adopted children Roseanne, Cathy, and Kevin Redroad; grandchildren Lane Adams (Annalissa), Jani Adams (Justin), Michael Adams (Sandida), Alaina Danks (McCrae), Janessa Adams (Teddy), Daisha Whitetail (Zachary), Ryan Jr., Kasen, Shyla, and LeBron Yankton and 17 great grandchildren. She held a strong bond with her grandchildren Ryan “BooBoo”, LeBron, Kasen and Shyla. Debbie’s brother and sisters Brenda LaCroix-Monson, James LaCroix, Timothy LaCroix, Vincent LaCroix, David LaCroix, BJ Adams, Patsy Dubois family, Ben DuBois, Janice Dubois (family),Loretta Dubois; nephews Ronald, Robert, Shane Lohnes, Kenny, Phillip Lohnes.
Preceded in death by her parents Marie “Lohnes” LaCroix, stepfather Jerome Adams, father Ben (Banjo)DuBois, brother and sister Linda LaCroix, Robert LaCroix, grandparents James and Emma Lohnes
