Donald L. Froelich, 92 of Devils Lake ND passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2020, at Eventide Heartland Care Center in Devils Lake.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, September 4, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the Devils Lake Cemetery with Reverend Lori Broschat officiating.

Donald was born on March 26, 1928 in Mandan ND. He was the son of Frank and Agnes (Wetsch) Froelich.  He was raised in Mandan and graduated from Mandan High School in 1946. 

Donald was united in marriage to Betty Mae Martin on May 25, 1949 in Bismarck ND. This year, they celebrated 71 years of marriage. 

Donald started his career in the retail clothing business at the Morrey-Allen Department Store in Bismarck. He later was the Manager of the S&L Department Store in Valley City ND and then Cloquet MN.  In 1958, he was transferred to the S&L Store in Devils Lake ND until his retirement.  Throughout his years in retail he was active in many community organizations and activities.  He also enjoyed many years of hunting.  He was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan.  

Donald is survived by his wife Betty, daughter Donna Opoien (Dale Kuball), Pekin ND, son Thomas Froelich, Minot ND, granddaughter Korry Tweed (Cory Donohue), Pekin ND, grandson Brandon (Michelle) Tweed, great grandson Hunter Tweed and great granddaughter Kyla Tweed, all of Dalton MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Kenneth Froelich, and son-in-law Allan Opoien.
