Donna Jean Gerald

Donna Jean, daughter of Albert and Helen (Knudvsig) Bonn was born on August 19, 1938 in Rolette County, near Agate, ND. She passed away peacefully at Valley Eldercare Center in Grand Forks, ND with her children by her side. She attended Pleasant Lake Township Country School for her education.

Donna was once married to Lester Gerald and created a family in 1960. She lived on the family farm near Agate, ND until she moved to Bisbee, ND in 1988. Donna worked at Cindy and Denny’s Pizza and Johnson’s Oil in Rolette, ND. She worked at Towner County Living Center in Cando, ND up until she got ill. 

Donna was very passionate when it came to her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed her time with her coworkers and friends. Donna loved visiting with friends at the Chocolate Shop. Donna loved to go to the casino every Wednesday with her special friend Connie. When you visited her, she would be working in her yard or decorating for the next holiday. She also loved going to the farm and mowing the grass.

Donna’s loving family includes her children Helen (Dean) Oberg, Grand Forks, ND, Thomas (Carlene) Gerald, Cando, ND, Karen Wong, Grand Forks, ND and Donald Gerald; grandchildren Amber (Travis) Smith, Jamestown, ND, Alyssa Gerald (Brian), Cando, ND, Alan Oberg, Brandon, SD, Melissa Wong (Cody), Crookston, MN, Lindsey (Brett) Johnson, Fargo, ND, Emily (Mark) Hilderbrand, Grimes, Iowa and Michael Wong, Grand Forks, ND; eleven great grandchildren; brothers Philip (Jean) Bonn, Rolla, ND, Kenneth Bonn, Minnewaukan, ND; sister Frances Lang, Grand Forks and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Beverly Anderson, brothers Albert Bonn Jr., Paul Bonn and Richard Bonn, nephew James Bonn and son-in-Law John Wong.

Casket Bearers: Isaiah Gerald, Dennis Bonn, Allen Bonn, Gregory Bonn, Monte Bonn, Jason Kleven, Lee Bonn and Steve Anderson. Music will be provided by Candace Decock, soloist.

Funeral Services for Donna will be held on Friday, April 12, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Valle Lutheran Church, Rolette, ND with Reverend Jim Odden officiating.  Burial will be in the Mylo Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Thursday, April 11th beginning at 4:00 p.m. with a time of prayer and remembrance at 6:30 p.m.  Visitation on Friday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
