Fabian Michaels Whiteshield Sr. “Iyoyanpa C’istinna” (Little Light), age 37 of St. Michael, North Dakota began his journey to the Spirit World Thursday, April 23, 2026 at his home in Moorhead, Minnesota.

Fabian, the son of Freeman Whiteshield Sr. and Irene BullBear, born June 25, 1988 in Devils Lake, ND. He attended school at Jeanette Myhre in Bismarck, ND, then moved to St. Michael, ND and attended Four Winds School. He earned his GED in Minot, ND at Job Corp.

In 2014, Fabian met the love of his life Carrie Belgarde. In 2017 they moved to Moorhead and called it home.

He started working at Applebee’s in Bismarck as a cook. After the move to Moorhead, he started work at KFC as a shift manager, then at Pizza Ranch as a cook.

Fabian loved spending time with his son, Fabian Whiteshield Jr. “Baby Fabz” as he was lovingly called. He enjoyed going to parks, having cookouts with his family, and going online to play video games with his friends and family.

Fabian was a people person and loved to meet and get to know new people in his life. But more importantly, he loved spending time with family, making sure they were all taken care of.

His generous, kind heart, love and laughter will be missed so much by all who loved and knew him.

His loving family includes his children Fabian Whiteshield Jr. (Baby Fabz), Michaela Whiteshield, Heavenlee Whiteshield and Laurynn Whiteshield (deceased); mother Irene (Robert) BullBear, Moorhead, MN; sister Francine Whiteshield, Moorhead; brothers Felix Whiteshield, Devils Lake, Freeman Whiteshield Jr., Mandan ND and Fulton Whiteshield Sr. also of Devils Lake; auntie Lora Lee Kaplan, Fargo, ND; uncle Allen BullBear Sr., Moorhead; aunties Elaine Guy, St. Michael, Sharon Brien, Fort Totten, ND, Brenda Whiteshield, Washington State, Carol “Ducky” Littleghost, St. Michael, Bernadine Whiteshield, also St. Michael, Philomene CallousLeg, Porcupine, ND, Donise Redwater of South Dakota; many dear nieces, nephews and cousins.

He will be welcomes into the Spirit World by his dad Freeman Whiteshield Sr., daughter Laurynn Whiteshield, paternal grandparents Lucy and Felix Whiteshield, maternal grandparents Stella and Leo BullBear Jr., aunties Mary Lovejoy, Mary Ann BlackBull, Doris Whiteshield, Tina Whiteshield, Nita Whiteshield, Karen BullBear, Mary Lou BullBear, Juliet BullBear, Eunice BullBear, and Leola BullBear, uncles Richard Whiteshield, Wilson Whiteshield, Glen BullBear, and Byron “Barney” BullBear Sr.

The Wake will be held on Sunday, May 3, 2026 at St. Michael’s Wellness Center beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service and Time of Remembrance at 7:00 p.m. The procession to St. Michael will leave on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. from City Plaza, Devils Lake.

Funeral Services for Fabian will be on Monday, May 4, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. also at St. Michael’s Wellness Center with Reverend Paul Schuster officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
