Floyd William “Billy” Joshua, of Devils Lake ND passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at the Larimore Good Samaritan Care Center with loving family at his side. He was age 90.
The Wake for Billy will be at the Crow Hill Wellness Center, rural Fort Totten, ND on Friday, May 2, 2025 beginning at 5:00 p.m. The procession to Crow Hill will leave on Friday at 4:00 p.m. from City Plaza, Devils Lake.
Funeral Services for Billy will be on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. also at the Crow Hill Wellness Center with burial and Military Honors at St. Jerome’s Cemetery.
Floyd William Joshua, son of John and Mary Rose Joshua was born on May 8, 1934 in Fort Totten ND. He attended the Little Flower Mission School at St. Michael.
At the young age of 17, Billy enlisted in the United States Army on February 12, 1952 and proudly served his country during the Korean War in Korea. He was awarded several Medals and Commendations including the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal and the Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged on March 31, 1955. At one time, Billy was married to Ruby Herald.
After his discharge he returned to the Spirit Lake Nation for a short time before moving to Denver, Colorado where he worked for the United States Postal Service for many years. While in Denver, Billy was a devoted companion and caregiver to Barbara Thompson until her passing on February 4, 2006. After her death, Billy returned to Devils Lake and called it home.
Our dear Billy, gone but never forgotten. Loved and cherished always.
Billy is survived by his daughter Cynthia Herald Mann, step children Denny (Frances) Thompson, Darrin Thompson, and Bobbie Jo Thompson; Grandchildren Bobbie Jo BlackBird and Tammie (Nigel) Adams, Jasmine Thompson, Donovan Thompson, Damien Gonzalas, Carlos Perez, Bobby Perez and Emanuel Perez; and many great grandchildren; many beloved nieces, nephews and their families also survive.
He was preceded in death by parents, brother Bobby Jetty, adopted sons Damian Thompson and Delbert Thompson, sisters Alice, Mary and Josephine and many other dear relatives.
Casket Bearers for Billy will be Lyle Morin, Doug Morin, Jeff Lunak, Brian Lunak, Bill Maye, Marty Alex, Denny Thompson, Bobby Perez, NIgel Adams, Cameron Adams, and Jeremy Buckhalter Jr.
