Gayle Harlan Hovedeness, longtime resident and firefighter for the community of Devils Lake passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at his home in the loving care of his family. 

There will be a gathering of family and friends at the Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services with Fire Fighter and Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. with location yet to be determined. 

Burial will be in the Fargo National Cemetery, rural Harwood at a later date. 

Gayle is in the care of the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake
