Gene H. Langley

Gene Howard Langley passed away at his home on May 21, 2024, with his loving family by his side. Gene was born on November 21, 1953, to Byron and Deloris Langley. Gene was the Valedictorian of his class, graduating from Warwick Public School in 1971. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Animal Science Degree from North Dakota State University. He returned to the farm to pursue his passion for farming and ranching.

Gene married Peggy (Klabo) on July 21, 1978, and together, they raised three daughters. Gene loved his family and made sure to spend time with his girls and eventually his grandchildren whenever he could.

Gene was diagnosed with cancer in 2004. He fought quietly, bravely for 20 years, continuing to farm and ranch throughout it all until he officially retired in the fall of 2022.

Gene and Peggy went on many adventures throughout their marriage, from horseback riding and side-by-side rides around the farm, to attending their grandchildren’s sporting events, and traveling to their winter home in Arizona. Gene loved taking Peggy, his kids, and his grandchildren to see sights and make memories on the farm, in Medora, and in Arizona.

Gene is survived by his wife of 45 years, Peggy, Warwick, ND; daughter Julee (Rick) Warren and their children Hailee, Charlee, and Rylee of Spring Valley, MN; and daughter Megan Langley (Cody, Boone and Scout Hilliard) of Souris, ND.  He is also survived by his brothers James (Mary) Langley and Preston (Marnie) Langley; sisters Darla (Bob) Miller and Maxine (Bud) Nordick; and numerous nieces and nephews. Gene was preceded in death by his daughter Kate Langley; parents Byron and Deloris Langley; and nephew Darin Klabo. The family expresses their deepest appreciation for the care received from Towner County Medical Center and their collaboration with Mayo Clinic Rochester and Arizona, urology, oncology, infectious disease and Palliative Care departments and their staff namely Dr. Eugene Kwon, Dr. Parminder Singh, Mark Burns, NP and Ryan Baldeo, PA.
