Funeral Services are on Monday, January 10th at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Devils Lake with burial in the Devils Lake Cemetery. Reverend JoHanna Buchholz is the officiant.
Gerald Herman Dimmler, son of Herman and Margaret (Peters) Dimmler was born on April 6, 1937 in Devils Lake. He grew up on the family farm in the Southam/Crary area and attended the Ontario Township School and Crary Public School. Farming was his passion and he had an early roll in the success of his family farm. As a young man, he purchased the Joe Fah farm and began his own farming operation.
Jerry was united in marriage to Lynda Burt on October 8, 1960 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Devils Lake. They established their home on the farm where they lived, worked and raised their 3 children. In 1981, they purchased the Powell-Kunkel Insurance Agency and owned and operated a trucking business for several years.
Jerry served on the Crary School Board for many years and was also a member of Doyon Lutheran Church and served on the church council. He also enjoyed membership in the Devils Lake Eagles and Elks Lodge.
In younger years, Jerry enjoyed many summer days at the lake, fishing and boating. He and Lynda followed the many activities of their children and grandchildren through the years. There wasn’t an auction sale flyer that didn’t catch Jerry’s eye. A great day was one with good coffee, good conversation and good friends and family to share it.
Jerry successfully weathered the ups and downs of farming, felt blessed to have loving family, cherished each friendship shared and trusted in the promises of his Lord.
Jerry is survived by his wife Lynda of over 61 years; sons Scott (Darla) Dimmler, Crary ND and Mark (Mary Jo) Dimmler, Southam ND; daughter Kristy (Steve) Buchmeier also of Crary; grandchildren Dustin and Cole (Meghan) Dimmler and Brett and Blake Buchmeier; great grandchildren Ellie and Liam, Bennett; sister Judy (Dennis) Thompson, Fargo ND and brother Jimmy Dimmler, Crary; sisters-in-law Glenda (Mike) Deplazes, Fargo, Sharon (Howard) Anderson, Oregon, Mavis Burt, Bismarck ND and Charlotte Burt, Devils Lake; many nieces, nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Gerilynn in infancy, brother Harold Dimmler, sister Janet Wood and father-in-law Arthur Burt.
Casket Bearers will be Jerry’s grandchildren Dustin and Cole Dimmler, Brett and Blake Buchmeier, nephew Brian Dimmler and friend Roger Perkuhn. Music by Marla Luehring and Patty Cote.
