Jason Wade Joshua, 38, of Devils Lake, passed away on December 29th, 2022, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, North Dakota, surrounded by his family and friends.

A celebration of Jason’s life will take place at Gilbertson’s Funeral Home on Wednesday January 4th at 11 a.m. Visitation will take place from 9 a.m. until time of service. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Ramsey County Event Center next to Peterson Arena for lunch following the service.

Jason Wade Joshua, son of Gale Vilandre and Michael Joshua, was born September 6th, 1984, at Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake. Jason attended Devils Lake Public Schools and graduated in 2003. Jason briefly attended Lake Region State College. Jason was a carpenter by trade. Early in his career he worked with Jeff and Jesse Kenner learning many skills. Jason also did road construction and concrete work. Jason finally settled in with Sylling Construction for many years. Jason later worked for Don Jorgenson performing various carpentry jobs.

Jason started playing drums in the middle school band. His talent was undeniable, and everywhere he went he was tapping something to make a beat. He carried this talent the rest of his life. Jason’s favorite music was Metal. He was a hunting and fishing enthusiast. He loved nature and spending time with all his best friends catching fish and having laughs. Another one of his hobbies was gaming. He and his friends could play for hours. Jason was such a lovable person. He had a heart of gold. He was also known to crack a joke here and there. His laugh was contagious and he could always make people smile.

Jason is preceded in death by his mother Gale Vilandre, father Michael Joshua, maternal grandparents Donna and Richard Vilandre, paternal grandparents Florence and Lawrence Joshua Sr., uncles Derwin Vilandre, Gordy Vilandre, Lawrence Joshua Jr., aunt Shirley Olivas, cousin Nicole Olivas, and friends Brent Borgen and Jamie Olson.

Jason is survived by his loving fiancé Anne Rasmusson and her sons David and Blake, brothers Cory Youngbear, Levi Vilandre (Theresa), Chad Joshua (Jessica), sister Amy Hood (Jamie), nephews Parker, Jaxen, James, Calvin, Oliver, Kooper and Bambrick, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Levi Vilandre, Chad Joshua, Jesse Kenner, David Campbell, Kelly Leben, Darren Leben, Tyler Morin, and Dustin Laverdure.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Jamie Sailor, Brandon Mattern, Kendall Christianson, Adam McCloud, Cory Youngbear, The Kenner Family, Mike and Mitch Sylling, and all of his cousins and dear friends.
