Jay Kenton Soper, born October 13, 1935 in Devils Lake, the son of Audry E. and Alma (Malingen) Soper.

Jay passed away on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2026 at Burlingame, California.

Graduated from Devils Lake Central High School with the class of 1953. Attended UND-graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering in June of 1957. Worked for the US Army Corp of Engineering until retiring in 1994. Eventually returned to UND and completed his Master’s in Science in Sanitation Engineering in June 1966.

Married Carole Bekke on December 28, 1957 in Devils Lake. Only child Lisa born on July 5, 1965.

Survivors:

Lisa and her husband Bill Galea; grandson Joe Galea and his wife Justina and Justina’s son Blake; granddaughter Stephanie Galea; many nieces and nephews.
