John Thomas Rutten, precious son of Andrew and Sara (LaMotte) Rutten was born on November 19, 2000 at Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake.  He attended Kiddie Campus Pre-School at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Prairie View Elementary School and Central Middle School. John graduated from Devils Lake High School with the class of 2019.

As an active student and Firebird athlete, John participated in football, hockey,  and was a member of  the 4-H Shot Gun Club.

In the summer, John loved spending time at Woodlake with his cousins and friends; jet skiing, water skiing, campfires and also time at the family farm; hunting, fishing and goofing off with friends and family.  In the winter, John enjoyed outings where he could go down-hill skiing.  John loved the outdoors and never wanted to let a beautiful day in the Lake Region, weather on land or water to go to waste.

John was a baptized and confirmed member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.  At the present time, he was working for LaMotte’s Paint and Glass.

John was an amazing son, brother, grandson, cousin and friend.  Our hearts ache, tears flow as we return our dear, sweet John into the arms of our Creator and Lord.

John’s loving family include his parents Andrew and Sara; sister Elizabeth Rutten; brothers Thomas Rutten and Jack Rutten all of Devils Lake; grandparents Tom and Mary LaMotte, Mary Rutten and Ken Hanson all of Devils Lake; uncles and aunts, Todd and Sheila LaMotte (also John’s god parents) of Devils Lake, Margie and Vince Hannesson, Lake Park MN and Ric Medina, San Jose CA; cousins Mara LaMotte, Will Hannesson, Peter Hannesson, Genevieve Medina and Ava Medina and other treasured relatives and friends.
