John Thomas Strait Jr.

John was born September 25, 1984 in Devils Lake, ND to the late John Strait Sr. and late Linda Fox and left his earthly home on Friday, September 11, 2026.

The Wake and Prayer Service will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026 beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Fort Totten Wellness Center with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. The procession to Fort Totten will leave on Friday at 4:00 p.m. from City Plaza, Devils Lake.

Funeral Services for John will be on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. also at Fort Totten Wellness Center with Reverend Larry Thiele officiating. Burial will be in the St. Thomas Episcopal Cemetery, Crow Hill, rural Fort Totten, ND

John was born to the late John Strait and the late Linda Fox. He attended school in Fort Totten, ND as well as Mobridge, SD. He also attended high school in Bismarck, ND. John had 10 children as well as many nieces and nephews.

John enjoyed dancing in pow-wows when he was younger as well as attending them. He also loved basketball. He loved helping others, especially the elderly.

He had a good work ethic and had his first job at age 14. John had many jobs throughout his life and loved to make people laugh with his sense of humor.

John was also involved in church and loved traveling with his family doing human videos. He loved being around people and made friendships wherever he went, even when his health was deteriorating.

His loving family that survive him include his children: Neveah, Justin, Victoria, Jasamira and Karley; brothers and sisters Joe, Hilly, Molly, Michael, Michelle, and Isaiah; nieces and nephews, as well as aunts and uncles. Many cousins and relatives as well as countless friends.

He was reunited with his mother Linda Fox, father John Strait Sr., brothers Jeff Strait, Micah Cooley, and Justin Strait, grandpa and grandma Laidman and Winona Fox, aunts Lynn Spotted Wolf, Laverne (Fox) IronRoad, LaVonne Alberts, and Leann Fox, uncles Leonard Fox and Lee Fox as well as many other dear relatives.
