Obituary

Jolene “Jo” Mary Anderson (Chaske) (Murphy), of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Lisbon, ND. Jolene M. Anderson began her earthly journey on January 26, 1974, peacefully completed it on June 26, 2026.

The Wake for Jolene will be on Monday, July 6, 2026 at the Crow Hill Wellness Center, rural Fort Totten, ND beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service and Time of Remembrance at 7:00 p.m. The procession to Crow Hill will leave on Monday at 4:00 p.m. from City Plaza, Devils Lake, ND

Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at 10:)0 a.m. also at the Crow Hill Recreation Center with Pastor Jimmy Harris and Reverend Larry Thiele officiating. Burai will be at a later date in St. Michael's Cemetery. All Drum Groups are welcome to share their songs in memory of Jo.

Pallbearers will be: Marquell Longie, Keplin Longie, Waylon St. Claire Jr., JJ Luger, Marley Luger, Cealan Lohnes, Mateo de la Paz, Robert Santos III, and Shyne Peterson.

Jolene was born and raised in Fort Totten and Devils Lake, ND area with her adopted parents Larry and Carol Murphy. She spent most of her entire life in Spirit Lake, ND. She attended the Four Winds Elementary School, before continuing her education at Wahpeton Middle School. Determined to achieve her goals, she later earned her GED and proudly enlisted in the United States Army, where she completed Basic Training.

Jolene was the proud mother of four children, who were the greatest joy of her life. She welcomed her daughters, Darion and Tristen Thomas with Milton Thomas, and later she met George Longie Jr. and tighter they welcomed two sons, Marquell and Keplin Longie. Jolene and George spent twelve years together raising their two sons and creating many cherished family memories.

Her latest job was working in the surveillance department for Spirit Lake Casino and Resort; this is where she met Wayne. Jolene dedicated many years of service to the Spirit Lake Casino and Resort where she made lasting friendships with co-workers and guests alike. In 2013, Jolene married the love of her life, Wayne Anderson. Together they built a home with love, laughter, and family.

Above all else, Jolene treasured time spent with her family. She cherished time spent with her children, and grandchildren. She held a closer bond with Shyne (Her Sonshine_), Saige, Serenity, Seth, Baby James, Trooper, Saeleigh, Savior, Sincere, Hudsyn, Octavia Paulson, Baby Marquell, Legacy, Baby Keplin, Kennedi whose smiles brought her endless happiness. She also looked forward to visiting with her brother Sean Lambert, and Wayne Chaske, and her favorite sister cousins Rose Azure, Beb, Lisa, Colleen, Jo Jo, Waynita, and Wanda making countless memories filled with laughter, love, and talking about the crazy family memories.

Jolene had a creative spirit and enjoyed crafting, decorating, and making her home feel warm and welcoming. She never passed up the chance to browse during a rummage sale, always hoping to find a special treasure. She was an avid fan of television shows such as Storage Wars, Pawn Stars, Yellowstone, Landman and many others too numerous to list. Anyone who knew Jolene knew her by her beautiful smile. She had a way of lighting up every room she entered and loved teasing, joking, and laughing with family and friends. Her warmth, humor, and generous heart made everyone feel welcomed.

Jolene leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, kindness, and countless treasured memories. Though her earthly journey has ended, her spirit will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, family, friends, and all whose lived she touched. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

Jolene is survived by her children: Darion, Tristen Thomas, Marquell, Keplin and stepdaughter Drayven Longie; her grandchildren: Siage, Shyne, Serenity, Seth, Baby James, Trooper, Saeleigh, Savior, Sincere, Hudsyn, Octavia Paulson, baby Marquell, Legacy, baby Keplin, and Kennedi; her siblings: Christy and John Lohnes, Sean Lambert, and Wayne Chaske; a special nephew: Trevor Yankton; nieces: Dorothia and Treasa Santos. She will be forever loved and greatly missed, by her family relatives, children, grandchildren, and all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Anderson, her biological parents Darlene Chaske and Willis Lohnes, her brother Myron “Sam” Rainbow, her maternal grandparents Joseph and Marion (Littlewind) (Iteapapi) Chaske, her paternal grandparents Anthony and Mary (Smith) Lohnes, uncles and aunts Big Joe and Corrine (Davis) Chaske, Winfield and Evelyn (Lincon) Chaske, aunt Vivian Lohnes.

Jolene comes from a very big family who all love her dearly.
