Obituary

Kallen Lee Omen “Wihini Waste” (Good Hunter) 19, of Spirit Lake, ND passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2026 in Bismarck, ND.

The Wake for Kallen will be on Wednesday, May 20. 2026 at St. Michael's Wellness Center beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. The procession to St. Michael will leave on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. from City Plaza, Devils Lake. All motorcyclists are welcome to participate in the procession to St. Michael. All drum groups are welcome to come and share their music.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Reverend Paul Schuster celebrating the Mass. Kallen will be laid to rest in the Greene Family Cemetery, rural St. Michael. All motorcyclists are welcome to follow in the procession. Drum groups are welcome to come and share their music.

Serving as Casket Bearers will be: Mitchell “Guy” Greene, Dominic Baker, Keyen Omen, Levi Omen, Lucas Laducer, Jordan Harrison, Chance Archambault, Kylon Greywater, Sam Jetty, DelRay DeMarce Jr., Atom RoanEagle and Durwin Bull.

Kallen Lee was born on August 1, 2006, in Devils Lake to Mitch and Dixie (Greene) Omen. He was raised and educated on the Spirit Lake Reservation and graduated from Four Winds High School in May 2024.

During high school, Kallen worked for the Spirit Lake Food Distribution Program and continued helping during college breaks. After graduation, he attended Cankdeska Cikana Community College before transferring in January 2025 to United Tribes Technical College to pursue a pre-engineering degree. He recently completed the Spring 2026 semester in early May.

Kallen proudly represented UTTC through the American Indian Science and Engineering Society Chapter and previously competed in the First Nations Launch High-Powered Rocketry Competition. He had been selected to attend an eight-week internship at Sandia National Laboratories in New Mexico this summer.

In 2019, Kallen and his teammate, Durwin, won the Apollo II Challenge, earning a trip to the NASA Space Center in Florida. He loved music and arts as he performed in the Fort Totten Little Theatre “Big Fish” and “Seussical” plays in 2018 and 2019. He was also a self-taught guitar player and loved to play chess.

At a young age Kallen developed a passion for riding dirt bikes and motorcycles. His goal was to finish college with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and have a career as a Motorsports Engineer. Kallen could fix anything from drones to motorcycles with his talent and skills. Kallen enjoyed riding his motorcycle to the gym and evening rides with his motorcycle crew in Bismarck.

Kallen had a passion to live a healthy lifestyle and would attend the gym for workout and weightlifting sessions. He recently participated in the King of the North powerlifting competition and earned 1st place in the deadlift.

Kallen was an inspiration to so many. He was a genuine, honest, and caring person who touched the lives of many people, even at such a young age. Kallen’s family and friends miss him dearly and will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.

Kallen is survived by his parents, Mitch and Dixie; brothers, Mitch “Guy”, Dominic, Keyen (Karina) and Levi; sisters, Brittany (Pablo), Bridget (Jacey) and Katie; grandparents, Ady Omen, Marla (Dennis) Azure, Ramona (Ron) Cannon, Aileen Littleghost, Barbara, Clara and Margaret Azure, Joe (Mary) Azure, Blake Azure, Scott Jetty; nephews, Mitchell, Michael, Larrence, Cameron, Daylen, Henry, Dominic, Connor; nieces, Aubrey, Lylah, Marlayna, Aniyah, Rosa, Alora, Maizlee; uncles, Frank Jason (Janelle) Greene, Terry (Martina) Morgan, Carl “Spark” McKay, Kevin Sumner Sr. Lucas Bonga, Ronald Jetty; God Parents, aunt Jennifer and uncle Wayne Black; aunts, Shieleen Omen, Marnie (Joseph) Lawrence, Mary Greene-Trottier, Jolene (Ray) Crosswhite, Robin (Duane) Smith, Shiela (Todd) Belgarde.

Kallen is preceded in death by his grandparents, Francis (Joyce) Greene, Janice (Carl) McKay; great-grandparents, Warren and Agnes Greene, Dennis and Susie Cavanaugh, Morris and Dorothy Azure and William and Pearl Omen.
