Karen L. Beauchamp, 78, of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at CHI, St. Alexius Health, Devils Lake Hospital.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake beginning at 11:00 a.m. with a Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery in the spring.
Karen Louise Ebertz, daughter of Nicholas and Violet (Shorey) Ebertz was born on Thursday, January 30, 1947, in Devils Lake, ND. She was raised and educated in Devils Lake attending Devils Lake Public School.
In 1966, Karen married Raymond Azure Jr., and they were the proud parents of two daughters Kimberly and Karla. The made their home in Devils Lake where Karen worked as a waitress at the Great Northern Café. The family moved to Fargo, and eventually Karen returned to Devils Lake with her girls.
After returning to Devils Lake, Karen worked at the Colonial Hotel Café until it was destroyed in a fire. She then worked at Leever’s County Market in the meat department.
Karen and Lyle Beauchamp were wed on March 28, 1996, and established their home in Devils Lake where they lived and worked the rest of their lives. With her marriage to Lyle, she welcomed with open arms two more children, Nancy and Jeff. Karen then worked as a bartender at Mel’s Corner Bar and then for many years housekeeping at the Artclare Motel. She worked there through the many name changes and semi-retired in 2012 but fully retired in 2019 when it was under the name of the Great American Inn.
Karen was a devoted wife, loving mother, and grandmother. Her family meant the world to her. They were her pride and joy. She was a hard-working, dedicated employee wherever she worked and made many dear friends along the way. She was known for her caring, kind heart.
Karen loved family get-togethers, doing Word Search puzzles and playing BINGO.
The dear family members that survive Karen include her husband Lyle; daughters Kimberly Peltier (fiancé Joseph) of Harvey, ND and Karla Azure of Devils Lake; grandchildren Dustin Azure, Raymond Peltier, William Peltier and Tristan Nelson; great grandkids Emilie, Hailey, Jaxson, Olivia and Lilly; step children and grandchildren: Nancy (Christian) Skogen, and son Ozzie of Lakota, and Jeff (Shannon) Beauchamp and daughter Lexi of Moorhead, MN; sister Darlene Siegle, California; brother John Ebertz, Devils Lake; very special friend Barb Lang; and many precious nieces, nephews and their families.
She was reunited with her parents, her maternal and paternal grandparents, sister Katherine Rasmussen, brother Michael “Mike” Ebertz, brother-in-law Richard Siegle, a very special nephew whom she helped raise Nick Ebertz, several aunts, uncles, and other nephews.
