Karen Marie Berg, 66, of Devils Lake ND died Monday, July 12, 2021 at her home.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 16, 2021 at Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake at 7:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m.  Interment in the Devils Lake Cemetery.

Karen Marie Hoffart was born on September 22, 1954, in Devils Lake, the daughter of Leo and Doris (Zettler) Hoffart.  Karen received her education in Devils Lake, graduating from Devils Lake High School in 1972. 

On July 30, 1974, Karen was united in marriage to Gregory Berg in Santa Ana, California.  Greg’s military career took him, Karen and 3 children to postings in California, Texas, Germany, Washington State and finally back to Devils Lake.  Karen, a devoted military wife and mother parented the kids alone during Greg’s unaccompanied tour in Korea. 

While living in Devils Lake, Karen ran her own Daycare for 5 years, drove taxi for 20 years and spent 10 years as the primary care giver for her parents. 

Karen was a loving mother and grandmother.  She loved playing cards, reading books and going bowling with her family.  Karen, a sweet and kind-hearted woman with the biggest passion we have ever seen for WWE.  For those who don’t know… that is World Wrestling Entertainment, and yes, she took her family to many WWE events.  The biggest surprise Karen received was the professional wrestler, COCO Beware coming to her house to meet her.  Karen loved collecting snow globes, and making tie blankets for her family. 

Karen will be missed and was so loved by her family, which includes her husband of nearly 47 years, Greg; children Melissa (Tylon) Eken of Devils Lake, Brandy (Jason) Duberowski of Fargo ND and Dustin Berg of Devils Lake; father Leo Hoffart, Devils Lake; grandchildren Dallas Eken, Austin Eken and Isabella Eken all of Devils Lake, Brittany Berg, Arizona and Jersie Duberowski, Fargo; sister-in-law Lisa Hoffart, Devils Lake, brother Robert Hoffart, Devils Lake; sister Arlene (Roy) Johnson, Devils Lake, several beloved sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and many nieces, nephews and their families. 

She was preceded in death by her mother Doris Hoffart, brother Mark Hoffart, grandparents Anton and Theresa Hoffart and Benjamin and Myrtle Zettler, in-laws Howard and Bernadine Berg and step mother Evelyn Berg.
