LaVerne M. Bear, 69 of the Spirit Lake Nation began her journey to the Spirit World on Monday, February 9, 2026 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
The Wake for LaVerne will be on Sunday, February 15, 2026 at the Tekakwitha Center, St. Michael, ND beginning at 4:00 p.m. The procession will leave on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. from City Plaza.
Funeral Services will be on Monday, February 16, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. also at the Tekakwitha Center with Reverend Paul Schuster officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Feather Sr., Arthur Richotte, Robert "Bug" Richotte, Oscar Feather, Arthur Feather, and Gary Feather III.

LaVerne Mae, daughter of Charles Mazakahomni Feather and Josephine Adolph Feather was born on February 12, 1956 in Devils Lake, ND. She married Alvin Bear and they had a wonderful life together until his passing on August 26, 2025.
LaVerne made her home on the Spirit Lake Nation her entire life. She held several jobs through the years, but most recently worked for 15 years as the Shuttle Bus Driver for the Spirit Lake Casino. She was forced to retire due to increasing health problems.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to many and felt blessed to have the love and support of her family over the years. She will be greatly missed, forever loved.
LaVerne is survived by her loving family. Her son Curtis Feather and special granddaughter Trinity Mazakahomni; grandchildren Todd Richotte, Robert Richotte, Arthur Richotte; also many nieces and nephews and special cousins Janice Feather, Roger Feather, and Renita (Feather) Delorme.
She was reunited with her parents Charles and Josephine; great grandparents Charles and Howastewin Feather Mazakahomni; brothers Melvin Feather, Francis Feather, Richard Feather, Gary Feather, Stacy Feather Sr. and Raphael Feather; sisters Charlotte Davis and Darlene Lou Feather; daughter Krissy Richotte and Pamela Rose Mazakahomni.
