Leona Jane (DeMarce) Erck, 61 of Devils Lake formerly of St. Michael ND passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2020 at the Trinity Guest Home, Minot ND with loving family at her side.
A visitation, open to the public, will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Friday, May 1, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with the COVID 19 restrictions. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake on Saturday, May 2, 2020 with a Rosary and the Very Reverend C.F. Wilhelm celebrating the Mass. Visitation on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the church is open to the public. A Public graveside service with social distancing on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at 12:00 noon at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery with Reverend Paul Schuster officiating.
Leona Jane was born on February 9, 1959 at Devils Lake ND the daughter of Jane DeMarce. She grew up on the Spirit Lake Nation, graduating from Warwick High School in 1977. She called Devils Lake home for 41 years. On April 30, 1994, Leona was united in marriage to Jeff Erck at St. Michael’s Catholic Church and would have celebrated 26 years of love and marriage in just a few days. After marriage they established their home in Devils Lake and Leona worked as a Teacher’s Aide with the Devils Lake School System for 19 years, retiring in 2008. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake.
Leona was a Packer’s fan through and through and loved watching football with her family.
Leona loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. They were her pride and joy. Leona touched the lives of so many. She was so very loved and will be greatly missed by her husband, children, grandchildren and many dear friends.
Leona’s loving family include her husband Jeff; sons Billye (Jodee) Green and Jeffrey Erck Jr. all of Devils Lake; daughters Hope Goodshield and Fernanda Romero of Devils Lake and Lupe Romero of Devils Lake; 18 grandchildren; siblings Harriet “Muffy” DeMarce, Mark DeMarce, Ferry DeMarce and DeeAnn DeMarce and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother Anna Jane Quintana, step father Gilbert P. Quintana and grandparents Frank and Bertha (IronHawk) DeMarce.
