Linda was born on March 3, 1947, in Kenmare, North Dakota, to Ingvard and Esther Iverson. She was born and raised on the family farm in Kenmare alongside her three brothers, Donnie, Leroy, and Rodney. Growing up on the farm helped shape the strong, hardworking, independent woman she became.

Linda later moved to Fargo, North Dakota, where she attended Interstate Business College and earned her secretarial degree. On March 19, 1966, she married the love of her life, Gerald Schmidt, in Coulee, North Dakota. Together, they began their life in Fargo, where their first son, Gerald Jr., was born. They later moved to Portland, North Dakota, where they were blessed with two more sons, Tad Bryan and Jon Duane.

In 1981, Gerald and Linda moved to Minot, North Dakota, for Gerald's work. While living in Minot, Linda continued her career in secretarial work. Throughout her life, she worked various jobs to help provide for her family, including bookkeeping and later working at Hot Stuff Pizza in Devils Lake.

Linda and Gerald also owned and operated Wilderness Lanes in Cando, North Dakota, alongside their sons. While Linda contributed in many ways throughout her life, her greatest work and accomplishment was raising her three boys.

Linda was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, who brought her tremendous joy. She treasured her family and found meaning in the small moments and traditions that brought everyone together.

Linda had many interests and hobbies that reflected her warm and creative spirit. She loved sewing, reading, fishing, gardening, and playing Solitaire and Farkle. She took great pride in her garden and in preserving the produce she grew, especially her special dill pickles, which she happily shared with her children and grandchildren. She was also known for making her famous Independence Day dessert, a tradition her family will remember and cherish for years to come.

Linda was an avid bowler and bowled for more than 30 years in local leagues and ND State Tournaments. She and Gerald traveled to National Bowling Stadiums across the United States with their children and friends, making countless memories along the way. She was a lifetime member of the 600 Club, an accomplishment that reflected her dedication and love for the sport.

Linda had a very authentic personality and was never afraid to speak her mind. She had a gift for offering honest advice, even when it was the hard truth that someone needed to hear. Her children and grandchildren knew that if they wanted the truth, they could always go to Linda. She would listen with an open ear and offer thoughtful, sound advice. Her honesty was one of the many qualities that made her so special and unforgettable.

Linda was also a deeply sentimental person who understood that the smallest things could hold the greatest meaning. She cherished time with the people she loved and the memories created together.

Linda and Gerald spent many wonderful years enjoying their lake home on the shores of Six Mile Bay. Family and friends gathered there for bonfires, grill-outs, laughter, and good times. In her later years, Linda enjoyed escaping the cold North Dakota winters by spending time at their second home in Mesa, Arizona. She especially loved welcoming her children and grandchildren to join them for vacations and making more memories together.

Linda's favorite song was “ The Rose ” , a song that held a special place in her heart and will forever be associated with her by those who loved her.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Ingvard and Esther Iverson; her three brothers, Donnie, Leroy, and Rodney; her mother-in-law, Delores Olson; father-in-law, Lawrence Schmidt; brother-in-law, Donald Schmidt; sisters-in-law, Cheryl LaRogue and Sandy Schwartz; and her great-grandson, Henry George Schmidt.

She will be deeply missed by her husband, Gerald; her sons, Gerald Jr. (Karen), Tad Bryan (Cindy), and Jon Duane (Kris); 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law Bradley Schmidt and Bob Schwartz; nieces, Lori Neubauer and Rhonda; and many other relatives and friends who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

Linda's life was built around the people she loved, and her greatest gift was the family and memories she leaves behind. Her laughter, her honesty, her traditions, and the little things she held dear will continue to live on in the generations she leaves behind.

She will be loved, remembered, and missed always.
