Lorna M.T. Smith

Lorna M.T. Smith, 72 of East Grand Forks, MN formerly of the Spirit Lake Nation, ND passed away on Friday, September 19, 2022 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Graveside Services will be held for Lorna at St. Jerome’s Catholic Cemetery, rural Fort Totten in September 2022. She will be laid to rest beside her father. 

Lorna May Theresa was born on December 10, 1949 at Fort Totten ND, the daughter of Jesse Feather and Mary OneHouse. She grew up and was educated at the Spirit Lake Nation. She made her home in North Dakota and Minnesota and held a variety of jobs.

She was at one time married to Clark Smith.

Lorna treasured her family and always wanted the best for them.

Lorna’s loving family include her daughter Dawnette Nielsen of Grand Forks, ND; sons Damian Smith and Derrick Feather; grandchildren Miranda Nielsen, Raymond Nicholas, Louie Nicholas and Simon Jensen; sister Debora Gurno of Minneapolis, MN; several nieces, nephews and other beloved family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents and several siblings.
