Lovina Lou Charon, 92 of Devils Lake formerly of Lawton ND passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at CHI, Devils Lake Hospital with loving family at her bedside.
Funeral Services for Lovina will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake at 11:00 a.m. with a time of fellowship to follow at the KC Hall, Devils Lake. Burial will be in the Lawton Cemetery on Friday, December 5, 2025 with time yet to be determined.
Lovina Lou Christian was born December 13, 1932 in the Lawton, North Dakota area, the first born daughter to Percy and Lillian (Johnson) Christian. She was educated in Lawton, graduating from Lawton High School and continuing her educated at Mayville State Teacher’s College. She taught school in Lawton for a time.
Lovina met and later married Hugh Charon on July 6, 1952. They lived, farmed and raised their family near Lawton. Lovina and Hugh had 5 children, Lorna, Dale, Paula, Tom and Dona. Lovina was a hard worker, working alongside her husband on the farm. They had milk cows and Lovina always had a large garden. She did canning and making jelly. Lovina also worked as a bookkeeper at the Lawton Farmer’s Union, later know as Cenex.
Lovina enjoyed traveling, and playing BUNCO with her lady friends. She later joined a bowling team in Devils Lake. Lovina and Hugh enjoyed the company of relatives and friends. They would go fishing in Canada and went to the Norsk Høstfest in Minot. Lovina enjoyed crocheting and needlepoint. She made many embroidered flour sack kitchen towel sets.
At nearly 93 years, Lovina leaves behind a legacy of steadfast work, a heart devoted to the family she loved and the friends she treasured.
She is survived by her children Lorna (Richard) Lawrence, Paula (Dave) Eisenzimmer, Tom (LeAnn) Charon, and Dona Muhs and special friend Steve Christ; daughter-in-law Rita Charon; twelve grandchildren Terri Lynn Anderson, Matthew Lawrence, Jonathan Lawrence, Kalyn Lawrence, Jeremy (Kristen) Eisenzimmer, Jason (Angie) Eisenzimmer, Mallory (Justin) Roppel, Trevor Charon, Amanda Eback, Colten Charon, Meghan Charon, and Troy (Shay) Muhs; four great grandchildren Aviella, Henry, Evie and Frankie; brothers-in-law Oivind Helland, Larry (Doris) Charon and Allen Charon; many dear nieces, nephews and their families.
She is reunited with her husband Hugh Charon who died on April 4, 2004, son Dale Charon, mother Lillian Christian, sisters Patsy Helland, Evy O’Neil, in-laws Palmer and Myrtle Charon.
Music will be provided by trio Rita, Trevor and Mallory Charon, Congregational Hymn, Patty Cote, vocalist and pianist and special recordings chosen by the family. Reading Scripture will be Jeremy Eisenzimmer and a Special Tribute by Trevor Charon.
