Luke A. Leitch

Luke A. Leitch, 40 of Devils Lake ND passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 4, 2020 at CHI, St. Alexius Health, Devils Lake Hospital.

Luke Adam Leitch, one of three sons of Guy and Jennifer (Wilke) Leitch was born on September 23, 1979 in Moorhead MN. He attended school in Cooperstown and Rolla ND and graduated from Devils Lake High School with the class of 1998.

Luke was united in marriage to his beloved Rachael Eback on September 29, 2000. They established their home in Devils Lake where they lived, worked and raised their daughter through the years. They were looking forward to celebrating their 20th anniversary this fall.

Luke’s passion was cars. From the time he learned to crawl (with a little car clutched in his hand) through to adulthood (still collecting all the newest Hot Wheels), Luke loved cars. He loved everything about the automotive industry.  Luke made the automotive industry his career, working at the Devils Lake Chrysler Center, Bjornson’s, was the manager of Car Quest, and also worked in all of the dealerships of Bergstrom Cars. He was the parts manager at Lake Toyota at the time of his death.

Luke was the proud owner of several classic cars, his favorite was a 1971 Chevy Blazer. He had an extensive collection of model cars he had constructed through the years and his many prized Hot Wheels.  Luke also enjoyed many happy times, family get to-gethers, just “hangin out” days at the family cabin at Lake Upsilon.

Luke will be so dearly missed by his friends and loving family which include his wife Rachael; daughter Megan Leitch; his mother Jennifer and her husband Carl Guderjahn of Alexandria MN; father Guy Leitch and his wife Judy of Wellington KS; brothers Joshua (fiancé Renee Hicks) Leitch, Choctaw OK and Zachary (fiancé Katherina Glink) Leitch, Portland OR; step brother Cory (Lisa) Guderjahn, step sister Cindy (Michael) LeBlanc; nieces and nephews Mackenzie and Peyton Leitch, Wilder Leitch, Andrew Guderjahn, Kylen Smith and Samantha LeBlanc; father-in-law Kenny Eback of Belcourt ND; several dear aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents John and Arlene Wilke, Andy and Carol Leitch, step sister Jill Butterworth Peck and his mother-in-law Joyce Erickson.

“You cannot buy happiness, but you can buy cars, and that’s kind of the same thing.”
